Apple Watches Series 10 have larger, brighter, and thinner displays
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 Detects Sleep Apnea Using a New, Lightweight, Battery-Efficient S10 SIP
A new S10 SIP designed for power efficiency is also included, as well as a charging coil that can take the battery up to 80 percent in 30 minutes. It’s not clear if the battery life is actually getting better. A new watch face called Flux takes advantage of the large, sparkly display. The Watch Ultra 2 also has a few upgrades, including a new black finish with matching new titanium hardware, including a black Milanese band that is designed specifically for underwater sports. This year, any Apple Watch in any finish can be carbon neutral, according to Apple.
Apple really wants the Apple Watch to be seen as a comprehensive health device, and it takes another step in that direction with sleep apnea detection. Sleep apnea is a condition where you stop and start breathing as you sleep, which reduces the amount of oxygen in your blood. It can cause life-threatening events, like a stroke or heart attack. The company uses the watch’s machine intelligence to alert you and your partner of your sleep problems over the course of 30 days, and use the watch’s accelerometer to monitor your sleep.
The Watch Ultra 2 didn’t get a big update, but instead gets some new styling. The new black Milanese loop is designed for water sports and comes in a black finish. Users will have a lot of water-sports-related features on the screen. It’s worth noting here, though, that even though this watch looks amazing, you might not want to lose blood oxygen sensing if you have an older model, which arrived with the Watch Series 6. Most of the exciting new updates can be found on the watch through the phone app and WatchOS 11.
The ability to detect signs of sleep apnea has been added to the watch by Apple. It’ll be available in black, silver, and rose gold aluminum starting at $399 and in slate, gold, and natural titanium starting at $699.
The rounded corners make it look softer, and the aluminum finish has been polished with Silicon to make it reflective. It’s still available in the popular rose gold and silver. It also features new hardware upgrades to make it thinner and lighter. There is a new metal backing that integrates the antenna into the housing and thin speakers that can play music.
The Ultra 2 as the Minimal Batman-Like Product: New Colors for the LS10 and L2 Supergravity Displays
Speaking of colors, yes, the all-black Ultra 2 is quite fetching. As is the jet black model for the regular Series 10. This is the minimum Batman would buy himself. The new clasp on the black Ultra 2 Milanese Loop is a little tricky to use, however.
I ran around trying on every iteration of Series 10 I could get my mitts on. And as much as it’s tempting to eye-roll a bigger, thinner display, it really makes a difference once you slip one on. I’ve been wearing the Ultra 2 as my daily driver for a year, and the difference in weight was massive. The rose gold color of the titanium models looks slick.
