There were 14 minutes of terror inside the Nashville school shooting

Witnesses of a Gun-Lifting Attack at a Christian School in Nashville, Tenteen years after the Decay of Hale

A video released by Metro Nashville Police shows the moment the shooter arrived at the school and shot through the glass doors to get inside. The video goes on to show the suspect walking through the hallways, pointing an assault style weapon.

Surveillance footage shows Hale driving to the school in a Honda Fit. Dressed in camouflage-style pants, a white T-shirt, a red cap and a black vest, Hale shoots out the glass of a side door and crawls through the opening to access the building. The shooter had a handgun and a rifle, as well as a rifle, investigators said.

Hale, who attended the Christian school years ago, left writings that pertain to the shooting and had scouted a second possible attack location in Nashville, “but because of a threat assessment by the suspect – there’s too much security – they decided not to,” police chief said.

As the shooting unfolded, worried parents rushed to the school and frightened students and teachers were forced to take cover as shots rang out and police confronted the attacker, adding the grieving campus community to a long list of other US schools marked by gun violence.

“I was literally moved to tears to see this and the kids as they were being ushered out of the building,” the police chief said during a Monday news conference.

An active shooter in Nashville, Tennessee, confessed to killing three people, including a son, and an associate, aka Akilah DaSilva

All three students were 9 years old. They were identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney. Three adults killed in the shooting were identified as 61-year-old Cynthia Peak, 60-year-old Katherine Koonce and 61-year-old Mike Hill, police said.

Shaundelle Brooks, who lost her son Akilah DaSilva during a 2018 mass shooting at a Nashville-area Waffle House, said she was brought back to that painful moment as her other son was placed on lockdown at a nearby school Monday.

The shooter was “someone that had multiple rounds of ammunition, prepared for confrontation with law enforcement, prepared to do more harm than was actually done,” the police chief said in a news conference.

Three weapons – an AR-style rifle, an AR-style pistol and a handgun – were found and police believe Hale obtained at least two of the weapons legally, Drake said. According to police, a sawed-off shotgun, a second shotgun, and other evidence were seized during a search warrant executed at Hale’s home.

They went upstairs and confronted the shooter, who “had been firing through a window at arriving police cars,” police said in the news release. Two officers then opened fire, killing the shooter at 10:27 a.m., police spokesperson Don Aaron said.

“I was hoping this day would never ever come here in the city. Drake said during a Monday news conference that they will not wait to make entry and stop a threat since it deals with children.

The school was prepared for this with active shooter training. We don’t want to believe that this will ever happen to us. But experience has taught us that we need to be prepared because in this day and time it is the reality of where we are,” Nashville Metropolitan Councilman Russ Pulley told CNN.

Katherine Koonce was identified as the head of the school on its website, which also says she attended school in Nashville at Vanderbilt University and Trevecca Nazarene University, along with getting her master’s degree from Georgia State University.

It was found that Mike Hill was in the staff section of the website. He was listed as facilities/kitchen staff. A friend of Mike Hill confirmed his image to CNN. Hill was a custodian at the school.

We are indebted to the faculty and students at Covenant School for giving Michael joy in his 14 years there.

The Covenant School is a private Christian school founded in 2001 as a ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church and teaches preschool through 6th grade, according to its website.

The Nashville Shooting Victims’ Attorney, Michael E. Biden, and the Families of Evelyn, Robeson, Cooper and Kim Lee

He said that it was important for him and the people of Nashville to stand together. The city has also set up a fund to help support the survivors of the shooting, Cooper said.

A recent study published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics in December backs that point, finding that homicide is a leading cause of death for children in the United States and the overall rate has increased an average of 4.3% each year for nearly a decade.

Biden said Congress needs to pass an assault weapons ban because we “need to do more to protect our schools.” This Congress has a slim Democratic majority in the Senate and a GOP-led House, which is not likely to lead to a bipartisan solution.

Police said Evelyn was 9 years old. While her family appreciates the love and support they have received, they are asking for time to grieve according to a family statement obtained by KMOV.

The staff member loved to cook and spend time with his family according to a statement obtained by CNN. He had 14 grandchildren.

She said she never thought a loved one would lose their life to a person trying to solve a problem with a permanent solution.

They said the educator had a great sense of humor and was confident. Kim Lee said that Koonce made the people she interacted with feel important.

He said she could be on her knees talking to a preschool student and turn around and meet with the angry parent and the teacher, if she wanted to.

What has happened in the Scruggs family, and what is still going on in the state of Maryland, for me and my mom, but I am not sure what I can do

“There will be a time to talk about the legislation and budget proposals we’ve brought forward this year. He said there was more work to be done.

“There is hope in the midst of great tragedy because God is a redeemer. What is meant for evil can be turned for good. May we have hope in the days to come. May we also act with wisdom, discernment, and grace. Lee said that he may love those who have lost.

“She and my sister were the closest of friends growing up and it seems like Cindy was around for all of my childhood,” he said Tuesday in a Facebook post. “She and Mae Ann had birthdays one day apart and her family lived across the street from us for a period of time. Cindy and Mae were together all the time.

“We love the Scruggs family and mourn with them over their precious daughter Hallie,” the Texas congregation’s Senior Pastor Mark Davis said. “Together, we trust in the power of Christ to draw near and give us the comfort and hope we desperately need.”

The Dallas, Tenn., School Shooting and the Strikedown of a Grade School: A Collision in Multiple Shots on the First Officer

Nashville, Tenn., authorities on Tuesday released graphic body camera footage showing the fatal confrontation between police and an armed assailant who attacked a grade school on Monday morning.

Six people — including three children — were killed in the shooting, and the suspected attacker was killed by police within minutes of the first call of an active shooter.

The massacre of students at a school renewed calls for more to be done by Congress to prevent school shootings, as politicians from across the US sent messages of sympathy.

Hale, a 28-year-old from the Nashville area, was a former student of the school. Hale used he/him pronouns after authorities initially identified her as a woman.

Body camera footage released Tuesday shows officer Rex Engelbert arriving at the school, grabbing his weapon from the back of his vehicle and encountering a woman who appears to be a staff member.

She tells him, “The kids are all locked down, but we have two kids that we don’t know where they are.” She also describes the layout of the school and says children are upstairs.

The officer with the key to open the door immediately went into the building, along with a group of five other officers, who immediately went into the classrooms to look for the suspect.

The gunshots grow louder, and Engelbert enters an atrium and encounters the shooter standing near a window. The shooter falls to the ground after being shot four times.

There are two veteran cops in the force, one is four years old, the other nine years old. Hale was killed 14 minutes after the first emergency call.

Drake said that the two officers were trying to make sense of what happened after the shooting. Drake said he had also spoken with Biden, who told him he intended to reach out to the officers too.

Drake said the shooter legally purchased seven firearms from local gun dealers. Three of those weapons were used in Monday’s attack.

Covenant School Shooting: How a Parent of a Basketball Player in Tennessee Walks a Day After the Other Shooter Wakes Up

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee lost a close familyfriend in the shooting, but many parents were able to wake up without their children.

The childhood friend of the shooter told CNN that she received a disturbing message on her phone before the shooting started.

Patton, a Nashville radio host, told CNN she was the shooter’s childhood basketball teammate but they hadn’t spoken in years and is unsure why she received the message. Patton said she then called a suicide prevention line and the Nashville Davidson County Sheriff’s Office at around 10:13 a.m.

The police said Hale’s writing revealed the plan of the attack. The shooter had a drawing of how to enter the building and “assaults that would take place,” Drake said at a Tuesday news conference.

The president of Nossi College of Art & Design confirms to CNN that Hale graduated last year. Hale worked as a freelance graphic designer and a part-time grocery shopper, a LinkedIn profile says.

An active shooter and a family friend of a friend of his father, Michael Hill, was killed in the park at the reunification center

Collazo then appeared to shoot the person on the ground four times with a handgun, yelling “Stop moving!” The officers then approach the person, move a gun away and radio “Suspect down! Suspect down!”

The police chief told reporters that he didn’t have a problem with the 11 minutes between when police got the first call of an active shooter and when officers arrived. But we always want to get better. There are a number of things that could have happened when we got there, so we always wanted to get there in two or three minutes.

Sissy Goff, one of Koonce’s friends, went to the reunification center after the shooting and suspected something was wrong when she didn’t see Koonce there.

She is kind and strong and has a voice of reason and security that would have been present in front of her, so I had a feeling.

Republican Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, whose wife, Maria, had been close friends with Peak, said: “Maria woke up this morning without one of her best friends, Cindy Peak…Cindy was supposed to come over to have dinner with Maria last night after she filled in as a substitute teacher yesterday.”

Maria and her family have known Cindy Peak since they were both teachers at the same school.

Some families of the victims have released statements as they mourn their loves ones. Hill was described as a father of seven children and grandfather to 14 who loved to cook and spend time with his family, his family said in a statement obtained by CNN affiliate WSMV.

Nashville Mayor John Cooper said that there would be a prayer and memorial for those who died in the shooting. The park is located at One Public Square.

The Tennessee School Shooting What Happened: Mike Hale, a 21-year-old victim, shoots off a glass door

The videos of the police racing down hallways lined with backpacks and children’s jackets to confront the suspect horrified the nation once again in the wake of another mass shooting.

The video shows Hale shooting off shots that shattered the glass door of the school entrance. Hale is seen ducking through the broken door while armed with three weapons.

Police said Mike Hill was shot through that door. The 61-year-old, known to the school’s students as “Big Mike,” was among the first killed.

Then, the sound of gunfire rattles the hallway. In the video, the officer said it sounded like it was upstairs. As police run up the stairwell towards the heavy booms, it grows louder.

I want you tospect down! He yelled into his radio. Then, after a labored breath, he sent an order to “Hold the air” – a request to stop all unnecessary radio traffic so his team can communicate across clear airwaves.

Koonce, a tireless educator and teacher who taught children to read, wrote, and planted flowers during the Holocaust, CNN learned about Koonce and Lee

In the aftermath, community members paid their respects to the lives lost, placing bouquets, toys, balloons and a flower-wreathed cross at a makeshift memorial just outside the school.

Koonce had been a member of the faculty for 16 years, according to a statement on the school’s website, and is survived by her husband and two children, both of whom graduated from Covenant.

“The faculty, staff, and students who worked with her mourn the loss of a dedicated educator, a tenacious leader, and a dear friend,” the statement said.

Jim Lee told CNN that he and his wife went to Nashville after learning Koonce had been killed. They described a live and witty character, deeply connected to her students and staff, but also a fierce administrator.

Lee said she was a person of grace, despite her amazing confidence. She was also an educationist, but she had pastoral and counseling skills that could tell you that you need to get in your place.
