Evidence points to the strikes on Gaza’s largest hospital

Associated Israeli and Palestinian attacks on Al-Shifa Hospital, the hospital’s principal complex, and their implication for the Interpolatory Security Mission

There were at least four strikes over a period of two hours on different sections of the complex. Al-Shifa’s director, Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, said in a phone interview that seven people had been killed and several others had been wounded.

After the final blast, the Israeli military blamed militant Palestinians and said a “misfired projectile” aimed at Israel Defense Forces troops had instead hit the hospital.

According to pictures of weapons fragments collected by The New York Times, three of the projectiles that struck it appear to have been Israeli weapons.

The Israeli military released a video showing what it claims to be tunnels from Hamas underneath a hospital. Israeli military officials said that they found weapons under the hospital, which they said is evidence of Hamas’ operations there.

In addition to the weapons remnants, an analysis of video footage shows that three of the projectiles were fired into the hospital from the north and south, contrary to the western trajectory indicated on a map released by the I.D.F., which it said was based on radar detections. Satellite images show that there are I.D.F. positions south and north of the hospital.

The Ministry of Health also reported Tuesday that the bodies of 170 Palestinians were buried in a mass grave in the hospital’s courtyard due to the ongoing siege.

The Gazan Hospital: a hospital for people displaced by the bombing and humanitarian crisis since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas

“Our staff is saying there’s no electricity,” said Caney. The people are stuck in corridors because of the fire from the snipers near the windows and they can’t get patients to the ambulances.

According to the ministry of health in Gaza, 11, 200 Palestinians have died. Officials report a rising death toll as Israel continues its siege on the region in response to the Oct. 7 attacks by the militant group Hamas. There have been challenges in updating the tally due to disruptions in service and communication.

The continued fighting has also meant other injured patients and displaced Palestinians who fear evacuating to the south are crowded into hospitals in the north for shelter.

Gaza health officials said the basement was “included in the design of the hospital and includes the administration and hospital stores. A shelter place for people who have been displaced by the bombing, it has now become a hospital.
