The Macbook Air gets an upgrade

The new M3 MacBook Airs are priced at $499-$500$$leq$200$$$ahlberg$15$$M3$

Just like the M2 MacBook Air Apple released in 2022, the M3 models include a Magic Keyboard with a full-height function row with Touch ID. The new M3 MacBook Airs come in a number of different colors. There’s also a midnight color that features an anodization seal that’s supposed to reduce fingerprints, which should come as a welcome change to the previous midnight option that’s prone to getting covered in fingerprints.

The laptops come with different power supplies. Most upgraded versions come with the option of a 70W adapter included in the price. The base model, however, currently only ships with a 30W USB-C power adapter, though you can upgrade to a 35W dual-port adapter or a 70W adapter for $20 more.

If you want 16GB of RAM, you can buy the 15-inch Air starting with 512GB of storage for $1,699, 1TB of storage for $1,899, and 2TB of storage for $2,299. The 15-inch model comes in two sizes, with 1 to 2 terabytes of storage, or 24 to 24 gigabytes of ram, for a suggested retail price of $2,099 to $2,499.

Upgrades to the M3 lineup: Two Years since Apple Launched the 13-inch MacBook Air and it’s Still Not Made By Apple

The noteworthy upgrades can be found under the hood. The M3 lineup takes advantage of the 3-nanometer process to pack more transistors into a smaller space and enhances the speed and power efficiency of the chip. It packs new features, too, including ray tracing, mesh shading, and dynamic caching. You can read more about that here.

External changes to the laptop were not made by Apple. After all, it’s only been two years since it launched the fully redesigned 13-inch MacBook Air—ditching the signature wedge design for a boxier frame, adding a slightly larger 13.6-inch display, upgrading the webcam to 1080p, and including a MagSafe port for charging.

Up to two external displays can be supported by both laptops after the graphics cards have been upgraded. They’re also more futureproof and support faster download speeds thanks to Wi-Fi 6E and a 6GHz band, and they come in four colors: starlight, space gray, silver, and midnight. The previous midnight models were plagued by fingerprints, and the latter shade is built with an anodization seal that should help.

You can currently preorder the 13-inch MacBook Air directly from Apple starting at $1,099 with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. You can get it with an upgraded 512GB of storage for $1,299, 1TB of storage for $1,499, or with 2TB of storage for $1,899. Or you can combine the extra storage with the extra RAM for $2,499, or you can combine it with 512 or 2 trillion of storage for $2,199.
