There is abortion politics playing out on the Arizona Senate campaign trail

The Mississippi Senator Tammy Duckworth and the Alabama Supreme Court Appeals. Can IVF Help or Can I Give Birth to Abigail and Pearl?

Before the Alabama Supreme Court ruling, you introduced bills like the latest one. Since that decision was issued, have you heard from your Republican colleagues? Do you have any contact with people like Susan Collins of Maine or Lisa Murkowski of Alaska?

Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois has introduced a bill to protect access to IVF nationally. She is also a co-chair of the Biden-Harris reelection campaign.

I’ve been talking about this for years now and said, “Listen, we have a problem here.” Because in my case, we fertilized five eggs, three of them were deemed non-viable, and we discarded the three non-viable because if I were to implant those, I would have had a miscarriage with all three eggs. And my doctor in 2013 said, “Tammy, with these personhood amendments, these personhood definitions that these groups are pushing for, I could be convicted of manslaughter or murder for throwing out those three non-viable eggs, and so we could no longer practice reproductive medicine.”

Tammy Duckworth is from Minnesota. Yes, so post my wartime service in Iraq, I’ve struggled for about 10 years with infertility attempting to conceive. And it was only through IVF that I was able to have my two beautiful girls, Abigail and Maile Pearl. But it took 10 years for Abigail to be born, and many, many cycles of fertility treatments to get to the point where I have these gorgeous girls.

Arizona, abortion politics are already playing out on the Senate campaign trail – Amy Lake has spoken out about the Alabama Supreme Court decision to repeal Roe v. Wade

Lake has made statements on a variety of topics, including her support of the US Supreme Court’s decision to repeal the Roe v. Wade decision.

“So it will prohibit abortion in Arizona, except to save the life of a mother,” Lake says on tape. “And I think we’re going to be paving the way and setting a course for other states to follow.”

“In the Senate, I will advocate for increased access to fertility treatment for women struggling to get pregnant,” Lake wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “IVF is extremely important for helping countless families experience the joy of parenthood.”

The Alabama Supreme Court ruling was the latest example of Republicans supporting reproductive freedom, says Gallego. Their actions, like the Senate’s appointments of justices who voted to overturn abortion rights, aren’t in line with their rhetoric.

How can you make a decision when she says she isn’t for this, but at least she’s for it now and that she previously said it’s okay to arrest abortion providers? Gallego asked.

Lake could not be reached for her opinion on abortion. She did not mention the issue during her speech at the conference.

Reproductive Freedom for All: The Tippet of the Spear Against Abortion Bans, as Declared by Representative Gallego on the Senate Campaign Trail

Mini Timmaraju is president of reproductive freedom for all. “Reproductive freedom and abortion access is gonna be the tip of the spear.”

On the campaign trail with Gallego, Timmaraju said candidates are seizing on abortion as an opportunity to be proactive on the issue, rather than simply oppose abortion bans.

Gallego says he’ll do away with the Senate’s filibuster to codify Roe v. Wade, a position that earned him the endorsement of Reproductive Freedom for All, even though the organization backed Democrat-turned-independent Senator Krysten Sinema in her last election.

“It is the ideal situation that you have Ruben Gonzalez at the top of the ticket in the state while Joe Biden and Cynthia Harris are the top of the ticket nationally,” Timmaraju said.

Timmaraju is also banking on a groundswell of support from an expected ballot measure to enshrine abortion rights in Arizona’s constitution. So far, it’s dovetailed nicely with Gallego’s own campaign – while out gathering signatures to qualify Gallego for the ballot, some of his volunteers are also gathering signatures for the abortion ballot measure.

Maryse attended a campaign event with Reproductive Freedom for All. She understands the warnings that have come to fruition about the end of federal protections for abortion rights, and that’s why she’s supporting him.

“I have not yet learned about that,” Waldron said. “I will have to read through the entire initiative, but from what I understand, I’m supportive of it.”

Timmaraju: What voted to protect abortion in Arizona during the 2016 midterm elections and why people didn’t want to hear about it

“The hard work is in tying it all together, and making sure folks don’t get zoned out from the flood of information that’s about to hit a state like Arizona in a presidential contest,” she said.

When abortion is on the ballot, voters have always voted to protect abortion rights according to Timmaraju.
