Warner Bros. Discovery will reveal their combo tomorrow

Max (aka “Max”): A Warner Bros. Discovery-Zaslav Combined Service Announced at a Press Event

I suppose it makes sense that the app was named “Max” due to its alignment with Warner Bros. and Discovery’s goal of making it appear like a whole service. It will have a wide range of content, which will complement Discovery Plus’mish-mash of shows like Dr. Pimple Popper and Fixer Upper.

At the press event, Warner Bros. Discovery showcased some of the MaxOriginals that will be included on the service, including DC’s ThePenguin, a spinoff of The Big Bangor Theory, and a new take on The Conjuring. Zaslav bragged about its popular franchises, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Game ofThrones, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Sesame Street and more that it plans on taking advantage of.

The combined service of Warner Bros Discovery and Zaslav will be launched earlier than the previous announcement indicated due to the upcoming launch of Warner Bros Discovery, according to the NYT. There is a chance that the Warner Bros. Discovery is still planning to sunset its app, it is unclear if that is still happening.

The star- studded presentation that Apple put on in the new year isn’t expected to happen at Wednesday’s event. The company will reportedly lay out the service’s name and technological upgrades, as well as incorporate some movie and TV show announcements during the hour-long event.

Max: The One to Watch and What Will We Do in the Next 100 Years? David Zaslav: Streaming the Future of Warner Bros. Discovery

“Max is the one to watch,” CEO David Zaslav said. It is the one place in the house where you can go and see what you want at a moment’s notice.

The $19.99 per month ad-free Ultimate tier comes with 4K HDR Dolby Atmos for some content, 100 offline downloads, and four concurrent streams, while the $15.99 per month standard ad-free plan offers HD quality, two concurrent streams, and 30 offline downloads. Meanwhile, the cheapest ad-supported plan offers HD quality and two concurrent streams.

Improvements will be made to the interface of the Max app. A new content navigation system, personalized recommendations, and a shortcut to save content are some of the things that the new interface of Max will address, as acknowledged by the head of Warner Bros. Discovery. Hopefully, this means Warner Bros. Discovery did a better job of fixing the bugginess of the app.

The goal is to build a streaming service that brings enough of a variety of content to beat out rivals like Netflix and Disney Plus. The streaming service will succeed because the company will own the full content of the app during an interview with CNBC in 2020, says David Zaslav.

“Netflix is a great company, Disney is a great company, but we have a portfolio of content that is very diverse and broadly appealing,” Zaslav said at the time. Over the long term, we believe it could be up to 400 million homes.

Warner Bros. Discovery will need to come up with a way to snag more subscribers in a landscape in which users are already locked into their favorite streaming services or are looking to cut back amid a pattern of price hikes. Is having a huge variety of content enough to do that? Soon, we will find out.
