The National Weather Service confirmed late Friday that a tornado moving 45 mph was detected over the city of Wrightsville in Pulaski County, Arkansas, just south of Little Rock.

According to the National Weather Service, the number of tornadoes recorded will likely increase Saturday, and the intensity of each one will not be known until damage surveys are conducted.

A sudden onset of cold weather amid unseasonably warm conditions had been forecast to create the biggest tornado threat the US has seen in more than five months.

In Texas, at least seven people were injured Tuesday in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – including at least five hurt around the city of Grapevine. Police in Grapevine said a mall and other businesses were damaged by two tornado reports.

Meanwhile, nearly 10 million people – largely in the north-central US – are under winter weather warnings or advisories, with blowing snow and power outages a key concern. More than 6 million people will be under winter storm watches on Wednesday.

The storm center said a line of storms willspread east-northeastern from middle Tennessee and northwest Alabama with damaging winds and embedded tornadoes.

The Storm Prediction Center states that the Northern and Central High Plains are likely to see winds gusting to more than 60 mph and up to 1-2 inches of snow per hour.

The “one-in-five-year storm” worked its way through parts of Nebraska Tuesday and is expected to linger in the area through the end of the week, NWS metrologist Bill Taylor said.

On Wednesday schools in the Rapid City area will stay closed because of the snow conditions, the school district said on Facebook.

The wintry weather conditions caused a closure of both east and westbound lanes of Interstate 90 from Rapid City to the Wyoming state line on Tuesday, state transportation officials said.

A 56-year-old woman from St. Charles Parish died when a tornado struck her home, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

For Thursday, the storms are expected to weaken slightly, but there is a risk for severe weather for much of Florida, coastal Georgia and coastal Carolinas. Cities like Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Savannah and Charleston could see damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes, Shackelford said.

CNN: The San Bernardino County Fire Department is Searching for Survivors of a Typhoon-Road-Scale Structure Fire

A number of structure fires in San Bernardino County appear to be storm-related, the county fire department told CNN. The department doesn’t give an exact number of fires, but said they are atypical.

Fire Chief Dan Munsey stated that there are gas leaks believed to be to blame for several mountain community house fires. Many of them are in locations with unpassable roads. Firefighters are responding to homes using snowcats and often drudging in by foot with shovels and hoses and digging hydrants out of the snow to extinguish flames, Munsey said.

In San Bernardino’s Crestline community, there is no shortage of snow, but residents have become concerned that they won’t be able to get supplies because their grocery store has closed after the roof caved in.

Rescuers are supplied with meals-ready-to-eat to distribute with those unable to get food, San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said in a press conference on Friday. A convoy of food and groceries will be escorted up a mountain by first responders who will set up distribution points.

Nearly 100 inches of snow have fallen on Crestline and nearby Lake Arrowhead in recent days. Aerial footage from CNN affiliate KCAL shows neighborhoods with indiscernible streets and homes with snow piled to second-story windows.

The only way to get around is by shoveling walkways for emergency exits, Solo said. Everyone has been shoveling, and it will snow another two feet.

“We have numerous local and state search and rescue teams that continue to work this morning. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said there are a number of assets on the ground.

The loss will have a huge impact on these towns. Please pray for God’s hand to be over all who lost family and friends,” Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves tweeted.

The search for survivors started after a confirmed tornado tore through the towns of Silver City and Rolling Fork.

Rolling Fork, Mississippi, a town of fewer than 2,000 residents who live under the constant threat of flooding, was claimed by the Blues singer Muddy Waters as his hometown.

Multiple deaths and injuries in the evacuation of southern Rolling Fork, Pennsylvania, according to the Alameda-Lasinio-Cruz

“We’re going to come back strong. Houses that are torn up can be replaced,” said Walker, who urged residents to stay in place as rescue teams continue to canvas the area.

At least 13 people have died in Sharkey County, where Rolling Fork is located, the Associated Press reported. ABC News reported that five more people had been killed in northeast Rolling Fork and Monroe County.

The director of emergency management in Humphreys County told CNN early Saturday morning that at least three people were dead and two were in critical condition.

Showah said that her grandmother is safe despite the roof damage and the air conditioners being ripped out. Most of the trees in her grandmother’s yard have been downed, including one that her grandfather planted 50 years ago.

“My friend was trapped in her home a few houses down, but we got her out,” Showah said, adding that there are still people who live next to her grandmother trapped in their homes. The power is out in her grandmother’s area.

Downed trees litter the roads and are blocking the roads. Video from the scene show that homes and buildings were nearly leveled with household appliances, furniture and clothes lying where the walls and roofs of homes once stood.

The Mississippi Department of Emergency Services said it had confirmed a tornado at least 24 hours after it was notified by the National Weather Service (NWS)

The tornado was confirmed near the community of Coila, as well as Rolling Fork, Silver City and nearby Anguilla, which was issued a tornado emergency by the National Weather Service.

There have been at least 11 tornado reports in Mississippi and Alabama over the past 24 hours according to the Storm Prediction Center. These reports include the storm that impacted Rolling Fork, Silver City and Winona in Mississippi.

The state of Mississippi has responded to the desolation in the state with additional ambulances and emergency resources for those affected by the deadly storms, the governor said late Friday.

Severe storms, like tornadoes, at night are more likely to be dangerous than other times of the day because people are less likely to be notified in time.

First responders rescued seven people who were trapped at a group home as trees and power lines collapsed on homes, the sheriff’s office said. The agency also responded to an overturned trailer and an overturned camper with persons trapped inside.

The twister traveled northeast, upending neighboring towns in Silver City, Black Hawk and Winona. The severe weather also produced golf ball-size hail.
