We picked the Best Cheap Phone because of the WIRED recommendation, but our favorite phone is the Google Pixel 6A. This deal is the lowest we’ve seen. The price of the Pixel 6A is comparable to similar products, with great performance, excellent cameras, and a nice display. If you’re in the market for a new smartphone, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better deal than this. If you want better cameras and a larger device, you can purchase the Pixel 6 Pro at a discounted price of $649.

This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen on the S22 Ultra (9/10, WIRED Recommends). This device can be used for a lot of things, from writing notes to doodling. It has a 10x optical zoom camera, so you can take pictures from very far away.
It costs a lot. But it folds! And believe it or not, that extra screen real estate really is nice. Android 12L also makes life on a bigger screen easier, thanks to its improved multitasking. The battery life is good and the screen is smooth.
The flip Z4 is a phone that can be folded up into a small pouch, but it doesn’t feel like a normal phone when unfolded. It seems like it would be more like a StarTak than a real screen. The battery will last you through the day but not much longer. The lowest we have seen for a folding phone is this one.
This OnePlus phone (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is speedy, and it has a bright 120-Hz screen refresh rate and a pretty good software support window. The cameras are not as good as those in the other phones. It’s worth noting that this is still more expensive than the newly announced Google Pixel 7.

The windiest of boardwalks, the loudest of street corners and the most chaotic of households are no match for the noise suppression of these buds — you can hear next to nothing when it’s on, leaving you and your music or podcasts to yourselves.

The newest version of the Nest Hub is a great gift for people who like to see their family pictures and display photos from a shared album on its 7-inch touchscreen. The screen can automatically adjust its color temperature, allowing it to look almost as natural as a real picture frame. Of course, it comes with Google Assistant voice controls for controlling smart home accessories, calling up some music to play on its tiny (but decent-sounding) speaker, or getting the weather.

The Sound of the Buds Pro 2: Real-time Water Resistance, Touch Control and Wireless Pairing in an Audio System with Matt Finish
They fit into my ears, alleviating the pain I felt during long listening sessions. You can find extra ear tips in the box. The buds come in two colors and come with a matt finish, which makes them the best type of finish for earbuds. I got the Eternal Green color, which is very nice next to my phone, and there’s a black version if you only want something simple.
OnePlus includes an IP55 water resistance rating on the Buds Pro 2, which make them safe enough to use at the gym. If you ever need to use your earbuds in a rain shower, the case can give you extra protection at IPX4 with an intellectual Property rating of IPX4.
The stems on either bud offer touch controls for controlling the playback of your content, adjusting the volume and using the Google Assistant. There are a number of taps, gestures, and presses that can be used to do this. It all worked as expected, in my experience.
The Buds Pro 2 will come to life with the help of Hans Zuller, the renowned composer behind film scores like “The Dark Knight,” “Inception,” and “The Lion King.” I was not able to test it during my review period, but I am told that it will come out sometime in February. I will update this review when I have a chance to play with it.
The smart features of the Buds Pro 2 are what you would expect. There’s Google Fast Pair for quickly pairing with Android phones, multi-device support so you can pair the buds with two different devices (perfect for pairing your laptop or tablet) and Bluetooth 5.3 for a stronger wireless connection.

Is the AirPods Pro 2 worth the investment? Streaming lossless audio with EarFun’s LHDC headphones
In order to stream lossless audio, you need to have an Android phone that supports the LHDC codec. A lot of today’s phones do, but the iPhone doesn’t. I tried streaming lossless audio with my OnePlus 11 and Apple Music, and it all sounded a bit crisper than it did via Spotify. The feature can be hard to understand for anyone who hasn’t used many pairs of earbuds in the past. Still, it’s there and it works well.
If you are walking in a big city or at a coffee shop, the adaptive noise cancellation on the Buds Pro 2 gives you a consistent noise cancellation that suppresses higher-volume sounds. The settings app can be used to change how much noise cancellation you want.
The earbuds worked well in transparency mode. I heard my surroundings well once enabled, even though the vocals sounded a bit wet, compared to transparency modes on other earbuds such as the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. It is a very solid item.
I used the Air Pro 3 for hours’ worth of phone calls, and never got any complaints about the quality of my voice. The recordings I captured with EarFun’s buds were perfectly audible, despite having some fuzz to them, and not very far behind the AirPods Pro2 in terms of clarity.
There is a wireless charging on the bottom and a port on the back to charge your earbuds. If you want to juice up quickly, you’ll want to plug them in — after 10 minutes, you’ll get 10 hours of listening time.
The buds also come with Zen Mode Air, which gives you five white noise modes to listen to when you want to relax. When sitting at an awkward angle, a posture reminder and activity level are provided by OnePlus. This feature was not available to try at press time, but will be added to the review once I have a chance to use it.
The earbuds are less pricey than the competitors and still I feel that there is a better carrying case out there. The one it designed feels cheap and flimsy, ready to crack with any accidental drop onto concrete. The hinges for the lid feels very delicate, as if I could just change them without too much effort. I have used a lot of earbuds, and this pair is one of the cheapest ones you can find. It looks okay at least.
I realize I should care about spatial audio given how popular it’s quickly becoming, but folks, it feels like nothing more than a gimmick with the OnePlus Buds Pro 2.
Marshall Monitor II ANC is a stylish pair of noise-canceling headphones that will catch the attention of shoppers. The Monitor IIs stand out for their unique looks, and come with a gold joystick that makes it easy to control your headphones. The sound and noise they offer is well-made. While they may not match some of the other headphones on this list in terms of noise-canceling effectiveness or sound quality, they can last up to 45 hours with the noise cancellation turned off. They are still beating many of their rivals up to 30 hours after it’s on.
Multitaskers will appreciate Microsoft’s Surface Headphones 2, given they offer terrific multipoint Bluetooth support, which allows you to pair them with multiple devices and switch back and forth between them with ease. The headphones also offer intuitive dial controls for both volume and noise cancellation, as well as improved sound quality and battery life over their predecessor. While Microsoft’s noise-canceling tech isn’t quite as effective as Bose’s and Sony’s, the Surface Headphones 2 still adequately silence outside noises so you can focus.
The Jabra Elite 3 are an extremely close contender to one of our top spots, and if we were going by looks alone, they’d be the clear winner. The sleekest buds you can buy for less than 80 are a low-profile design and reliable physical controls that are just as good as Jabra’s more expensive earbuds. However, the lack of active noise cancellation and wireless charging holds them back against the EarFun Air Pro 3 in terms of overall value.
EarFun’s newest buds sound fantastic, holding up equally well for my usual mix of loud punk and sad, slow independent rock. I could pick out each of Boygenius’ three singers, even though their voices swirled together during the emotional “Emily I’m Sorry” and enjoyed plenty of bouncy bass and crisp guitars while jamming Paramore’s “This Is Why.” Ear Fun’s buds are close to the same quality as the ones on the AirPods Pro, but they cost a fraction of the price.
The Air Pro 3 won’t automatically pause my music when I take them out of my ears, but I hate that they don’t do that until the case is closed. This is something that the AirPods and most modern earbuds are smart enough to do these days, and led to multiple instances of music and podcasts continuing to play when I didn’t want them to.
There’s a Game Mode that’s designed to reduce audio latency while you’re gaming, which feels like a gimmick you can probably ignore. I didn’t notice a real change when playing Vampire Survivors with and without the feature on, though it’s possible that serious Call of Duty or PUBG players may benefit from the purported boost. I was a bit amused that the Product Tutorial button takes you to a Google Doc of the instruction manual rather than providing tips directly within the app, but I still appreciate that there’s quick access to help.

The IPX7 waterproof rating makes them suitable for submergence into 1 meter of water for about 30 minutes. For most people buying budget earbuds, the most important detail is the sound quality. We used a wide range of tracks to ensure that we tested just about every popular musical genre. Our list included classic rock with soaring guitars, classical, focused on the open space of popular sonatas, and pop and electronic to test out the bass. Each of the headphones were worn for hours to get a better idea of how they fit. We also did our best to analyze each device’s controls, and how reliable and customizable they were.
We need to make sure that EarFun earbuds are created according to what is best for them. The EarFun Free has a good sound quality and has six hours of battery life, however there is 24 extra hours available in the charging case. We found that sound quality and comfort were not as good as their higher priced counterparts.
We challenge you to find a good pair of earbuds. The case does not have a lid, so let’s start with it. Yes, you read that right. The JLab Audio Go Air use magnets to connect the earbuds to the charging case, with the assumption that you’ll never drop or jolt them hard enough to knock them out. It seems like a disaster waiting to happen because we never dropped or lost the earbuds during the testing period.
Let’s assume you don’t drop them and you want to set them up with your phone. Well, good luck! We had to reconnect these headphones several times just to get them working properly. The setup should have been done in 30 seconds. When they finally connected, we were disappointed to realize it was all for naught. These earbuds practically ruined Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” for us. There was no sound space, no depth and no range. We’re not sure we’ve ever heard anything as truly terrible and unenjoyable as these earbuds. No matter what you decide, please do not use these earbuds. You deserve better.
For all of the marketing that goes into Skullcandy headphones, you would think they would provide better-sounding earbuds. The Skullcandy Sesh earbuds were disappointing. Usually it’s easy to justify the lack of performance because Skullcandy headphones typically look cool, but these earbuds are so small and hard to see that they’re far from a fashion statement.
The sound was okay, but lacked bass in some dance and disco songs. The highs created a lack of balance in sound quality, because they were too high. Add poor battery life and a terrible microphone, and you have yourself yet another pair of earbuds made for the clearance rack.
