Dashlane has a feature to support third-party passkey sync

1Password PassKeys, Passkeys, and Dashlane: What will we learn in the coming months? The challenge of changing passwords with passkeys

The vague release window for the roll out of 1Password account passKeys is only given for this summer. When asked if 1Password plans to remove password support entirely in favor of passkeys, Won said, “We know the migration to passwordless won’t happen overnight, so we’re going to make it optional to start when we hit this summer. We have to meet people where they are. However, our goal is to go passkey-only as soon as possible.”

Passkeys could allow users to replace traditional passwords with their own, such as a laptop with Windows Hello, if they use public key cryptography which the FIDO Alliance uses. PassKeys provide greater security than passwords as there are no fixed “sequence” to steal or compromise.

Dashlane for passkeys is going to take a long time since it will need app makers and websites to adopt the feature. It’s not a Dashlane problem, it’s a problem for any FIDO Alliance member who is trying to get people off passwords and onto passkeys.

Dashlane’s mobile app is not usable in a web browser. The ability is anticipated to come in the next preview before the official release of Android 14.
