In the West Bank, Israel has intensified bombing
The Gaza Strip is a Threat to the Security Council, and Israel is Engaged in a “Weak and Strong” War against Hamas
A military spokesman for Israel said the country was intensifying its bombing campaign in the Gaza Strip as part of the current war against Hamas.
The Hamas government in Gaza said at least 55 people were killed in overnight raids. According to the Palestinian health ministry, more than 5000 people have died in Gaza over the past two weeks.
There are people being held hostage in Gaza. The deputy chief of the Hamas rocket force was among the dozens of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli strikes overnight.
Many Palestinians said they received warnings from Israel’s military to move from north Gaza to the south of the enclave, with an added message that they “might be identified as an accessory in a terrorist organization if they stayed put”. However, there have also been strikes in the south of Gaza, making it unclear whether moving is truly safe.
The strike was part of surging violence in the West Bank, as the Israeli military pursues Palestinian militants. At least 90 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli-occupied territory in the past two weeks, mainly in clashes with Israeli troops, according to AP.
Unlike in Gaza, Israel does not use air power in the West Bank. Israel says its forces have detained over 700 suspects in the West Bank, including 480 members of Hamas, since the start of hostilities.
Meanwhile, Israel also carried out strikes on Hezbollah targets on the border with Lebanon on Saturday, after one Israeli soldier was hit by an anti-tank missile in northern Israel. “We are in the heart of the battle today,” said Hezbollah’s deputy leader, Sheikh Naim Kassem, on Saturday, the same day that the group said six of its fighters were killed.
According to Syrian state media, Israeli strikes early Sunday targeted Damascus and the northern city of Aleppo and killed one person. The runways were damaged and put out of service. The Israeli military didn’t comment immediately.
The Hamas blast: ‘It’s a drop in the bucket, is it a rocket?’ Revised Palestinian humanitarian coordinator in Occupied Palestine
He mentioned that the Pentagon was sending an anti-ballistic missile defense system called the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) to the Middle East.
The United States has put a significant amount of naval power to the area in the last few weeks.
As the trucks made their way through the Rafah border, hundreds of foreign nationals gathered on the Gaza side, hoping to escape the violence. But no one was allowed to leave the building. 100 trucks are sitting on the Egyptian side of the border with aid agencies hoping that there will be more delivered soon. Hundreds of Americans are stuck in Gaza.
The trucks were carrying medical supplies for trauma treatment and chronic disease. The delivery also included some food, mattresses and blankets. Notably, no fuel arrived, which aid groups say is needed to power hospitals and desalination plants for much-needed water.
Lynn Hastings, U.N. Humanitarian Coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, told NPR that the arrival of the trucks Saturday “represents a very small first but important start. Obviously it’s really a drop in the bucket.”
The Hamas-run health ministry has also declined to release further details about those 471 victims, and all traces of the munition have seemingly vanished from the site of the blast, making it impossible to assess its provenance. Raising more questions about Hamas’s claims, the impact site was actually the hospital parking lot.
As new information came to light, the Gazan authorities changed their story about the blast. Spokespeople have released death tolls varying from 500 to 833, before settling on 471.
Hamas refused to allow The Times to see any evidence of the munition it said struck the hospital, claiming that it had disintegrated beyond recognition.
The missile dissolved like salt in the water according to a senior Hamas official in a phone interview. It is dead. Nothing is left.
In a text message, the head of the Hamas-run media office asked, “Who says we are obliged to present the remnants of every rocket that kills our people?” In general, you can come and research and confirm for yourself from the evidence we possess.”
