The World Cup winners say they will not play for Spain until the soccer leader is removed
FIFA bans Rubiales, the victim of false feminists and disrespected by the federation of women’s soccer (FIFA)
Spain’s government announced Friday it had started proceedings to have Rubiales suspended. If the country’s Sport Court finds that he violated laws or regulations about sexist acts, it could declare him unfit to hold office at the federation.
Several of the national team players who would have been on the Women’s World Cup squad refused to play for Spain’s coach because of his treatment of them.
Hermoso put out her own statement on Friday. “I felt vulnerable and the victim of aggression, an impulsive, sexist, out-of-place act and without any kind of consent on my part. She wrote that she was not respected.
At an emergency meeting of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Rubiales said that he planted a kiss on the mouth of a player at the World Cup and claimed that he was the victim of false feminists.
The vice President of the Spanish soccer Federation and two other people resigned, but the president held firm, the Associated Press reported.
More than 50 players from Spain’s World Cup squad have said in a statement that they will not play for the national team again if the current leaders are not removed.
“We want to end this statement asking for real changes, both sporting and structural, that help the National Team to continue growing, in order to transfer this great success to later generations. The players said that they were sad that the event was tainting the greatest success sport in Spain.
“He is given the opportunity to start his defense in order to prove his innocence and to ensure the truth is vindicated,” the federation said in a statement.
“FIFA reiterates its absolute commitment to respect the integrity of all persons and therefore condemns with the utmost vigour any behaviour to the contrary,” the governing body wrote in a statement on Saturday.
