There were announcements from the Meta’s Quest gaming showcase
Powerwash Simulator vs. Stranger Things: Asgard’s Wrath 2 on Quest and Ubisoft headsets
The soothing washing game Powerwash Simulator is getting a virtual reality version. It will be available sometime this year.
Meta teased a Ghostbusters VR title at last year’s gaming showcase, and on Thursday, Meta revealed a new story trailer for the game, which is set in San Francisco and lets you play co-op with up to three of your friends. Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is scheduled to come out this fall.
You will be able to shake virtual maracas in Virtual Reality with a selection of 40 hit songs when Samba de Amigo arrives on the Quest headsets this fall. It makes sense to me. I’m not sure if it will be as fun as Beat Saber, but it will almost certainly be a lot sillier.
If you wanted to be Vecna while watching the series, you can do that using the Stranger Things virtual reality headset. At the show, Meta showed a trailer for their upcoming game, which might be too scary for me. The game is going to be released in the fall.
The new game, Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, will also allow you to add Quest headsets to the list of platforms in which you can play the game. Meta didn’t say much other than that the title would be revealed at the upcoming Ubisoft event on June 12.
In terms of spotlights, one of the best ones was for Asgard’s Wrath 2, the sequel to the well-rated action-adventure Asgard’s Wrath. During the show, Meta showed off swordfighting, ax throwing, puzzles, mini games, and even fishing, and she promised that the game would feature a 60 hour campaign and a rogue lite dungeon mode. In winter of 2019/20, the sequel to Asgard’s Wrath will launch for Quest headsets and you can watch a nearly nine-minute developer walkthrough here.
Meta has just wrapped its latest Quest Gaming Showcase, where it previewed a bunch of virtual reality games coming to its Quest headsets. This year could be a very important one for Meta in terms of gaming, with the upcoming release of the Quest 3 and the PSVR2 likely having some major games of their own. But for players invested in Meta’s VR platform, it seems like there will be some good games to look forward to.
Even though Apple’s new product is coming next week, some companies are getting ready to sell it. The ThinkRealityVRX headset, which was launched earlier this week, is now shipping at a price of $1,299. Magic Leap, which has been working on augmented reality technology since 2010, has been meeting with the media to give a demonstration of its headset. The headset is thinner and lighter, with improved optics, than its predecessor, the Magic Leap One; like the Lenovo headset, it’s aimed squarely at enterprise customers.
Ahead of an Apple event next week where the company will reportedly show a years-in-the- making face computer, Meta has announced a new headset. Apple has been meeting with app developers in recent months to entice them to build experiences for what the company considers a new platform. Since introducing the Apple Watch in 2015, there has been no major announcement of a hardware product for Apple. The HomePod speaker from Apple wasn’t an entirely new platform for apps.
The Meta Quest 3 is 40 percent thinner and contains twice the processing power compared to the previous headset, thanks to a new chipset from Qualcomm, which was shown this morning. Also, the hand controllers have been changed. The new headset will go on sale “this fall” starting at $500. In a blog post, the company teased that more details about the Quest 3 would be revealed at Meta Connect on September 27.
