The world’s smallest dog is a pocket-sized Pearl
A Guinness World Record Breaking Record for the Height of a Pet: Pearl Milly and her Ex-girl, Vanesa Semler
Pearl is related to previous record holder Miracle Milly, who measured 3.8 inches tall. She was dead before Pearl was born. According to records from Guinness World Records, Pearl and Milly are both related to the same mother.
Her owner Vanesa Semler, who was also the owner of Miracle Milly, told Guinness World Records: “We’re blessed to have her. And to have this unique opportunity to break our own record and share with the world this amazing news.”
Semler said that Pearl was a bit diva but she was calm in front of the live studio audience.
Describing her pet as “small like a ball” and slightly taller than a teacup, Semler said Pearl is accustomed to a high quality diet of chicken and salmon.
Semler said that she likes to dress up nice. “We have lots of fun together,” she said, adding that her adult dog is still a “child at heart.”
Boo Boo is a dwarf Yorkshire terrier and the tallest Great Dog in the world, as revealed by GWR’s Lo Show dei Record
“In compliance with the rules of the record, each measurement was taken from the base of the front leg foot up to the top of the withers (the ridge between the shoulder blades) in a straight vertical line,” GWR explains.
The smallest ever dog was a dwarf Yorkshire terrier, which stood at just 2.8 inches tall and 3.8 inches long from the tip of its nose to the end of its tail. Owned by UK-based Arthur Marples, the tiny terrier died in 1945, before its second birthday.
The two-year-old measures exactly 3.59 inches tall and 5 inches long, according to her vet, Dr. Giovanni Vergel of Crystal Creek Animal Hospital in Orlando, Fla. Put another way, she’s shorter than a Popsicle stick, barely the height of a credit card and about as tall as a toilet paper roll.
A three-minute video posted to GWT’s Twitter account features a clip of Pearl in a series of fashionable outfits as she takes walks, gets groomed, and plays with her toys.
The pair enjoyed a shopping spree during a recent trip to Milan, where Pearl made her big-screen debut on GWR’s Italian TV program Lo Show dei Record. She remained calm in front of the live studio audience while she was carried onstage in an Easter egg shaped basket.
“We’re blessed to have her,” Semler told the record keeper, “and to have this unique opportunity to break our own record and share with the world this amazing news.”
Boo Boo was the tallest chihuahua at 4 inches tall and the previous title-holder. In 2007, Boo Boo met the world’s tallest dog, a harlequin Great Dog named Gibson who had a whopping 40 inches on her.
The large dog stood at approximately 8 in. in height and measured … 3.75 in. GWR says from the tip of the nose to the tail. “It died just before it’s second Birthday in 1945.”
