Tiger Woods is at The Masters
Tiger Woods and Jon Rahm in the final four holes of the Masters at the end of the second round on Sunday after a rain-induced car crash
It wasn’t until after 2 pm that it was decided that Tiger Woods would make The Masters cut and be on his way to the third and fourth rounds.
The 47-year-old, who had earlier in the week suggested that this could be his final appearance at the tournament, finished his delayed second round with a one-over 73.
Woods, who narrowly secured his passage to the thirdround, had a bad day. His score after seven holes was the worst of the day.
Woods had completed 11 holes of his second round on Friday and was two-over par, then the projected cut, when play was suspended for the day due to bad weather.
After the second round ended on Friday, the world’s 3rd ranked player, Jon Rahm, narrowed the gap to two shots.
The third round has already begun. Woods is set to tee off at 1.06 p.m E.T and playing so many holes on the same day – if the weather holds out – will be a real test for the 15-time major champion.
After his opening round on Thursday he said he was in pain on the Augusta course, which was the location of a serious car crash.
Play began an hour earlier to allow several golfers to finish their second rounds after play was stopped because of bad weather on Friday. According to tournament organizers, no one was hurt.
The cold, wet, and windy conditions made it difficult for players to shoot under par, and when the horn blew at 3:35 pm local time, only four players were under par.
The US Amateur champion was seven strokes behind the leader when he responded with four straight pars.
With 12 holes remaining for the lead group, it looks set to be a grueling day of Sunday action if The Masters is to avoid just the sixth Monday finish in the major’s history.
The 3 winners of the day were Patrick, Matt, and Matthew. As scores dropped around them, the duo shot a best of three under par to move into the four tied for fourth.
