Food worker with a “fantasy” of security work is a sought after one

How to Vote in 2018: Telling Your Cousins Why You Shouldn’t Live in a Country with Respect to Your Sexuality

“I am very big on just telling people to be a part of the process and vote your values,” he wrote, “and be part of this adventure we are all a part of living in the United States of America.”

In November 2018, Mr. Boelter urged his followers on LinkedIn to vote in that year’s election, saying he had been to countries where people could not elect their leaders and that were “not places that anyone of us would want to live in.”

In social media posts and websites, Boelter said he had extensive experience as a security professional with “training by both private security firms and by people in the U.S. Military.”

He said that most people in America don’t know what sex they are. “They don’t know their sexual orientation, they’re confused. The enemy is too far into their mind and soul.

In public records and his LinkedIn profile, Boelter also claimed to have worked in in Africa, activities that may have included an evangelical ministry.

He said he was the chief executive of a company called Red Lion Group that was dedicated to creating good jobs for local people on his website.

State reports and his LinkedIn profile indicate that he was recently a general manager of a 7-Eleven in Minneapolis and, before that, had worked as the general manager of a gas station in St. Paul. He was listed in a report as an executive at an energy company.

Boelter abandoned an SUV that resembled a law enforcement vehicle after he was confronted by police, according to authorities. He then ran from the scene on foot.

The firm says it offers only armed security. If you want a guard that isn’t nude, you need to work with another service, the website says.

Mr. Boelter is listed as the director of security patrols on the website of Praetorian Guard Security Services, a Minnesota-based company that says it provides private patrols and uniformed security. His wife is listed as the leader of the free world. The website describes Ford Explorer S.U.Vs as the same make and model of vehicles that many police departments use.

In an interview, the senator from Minnesota said that the man had a target list that included her and other Democrats.

The police have said that the suspect in the attacks disguised himself as a police officer and went to the homes of two state lawmakers in the Minneapolis suburbs. He shot and wounded Senator Hoffman, and his wife, Yvette, and fatally shot State Representative Melissa Hortman, and her husband, Mark. He remains on the run.

A state report in 2016 listed Mr. Boelter’s political affiliation as “none or other,” and another report in 2020 listed him as having “no party preference.” Voters don’t state political affiliation when they sign up in Minnesota.

Mark Dayton was the governor at the time Mr. Boelter was appointed to the board. He was appointed by Tim Walz, who is also a Democrat. The board’s goal is to improve business growth in the state, which is why 41 members are appointed by the governor.

Minnesota Corona Virus Investigation Commissioner Drew Boelter: Managing a Private Business in the Era of Elections

Drew Evans, the superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, said investigators did not yet know how well the two knew each other, if at all.

The minutes from the virtual meeting that Mr and Senator Boelter attended in a year’s time show that they had a discussion about the job market after the coronaviruses outbreak.

Records show that the person suspected of shooting two state lawmakers in Minnesota was on a state board with one of the victims.

The police have said that the suspect in Saturday’s attacks, Vance Boelter, 57, disguised himself as a police officer before going to the homes of two state lawmakers in the Minneapolis suburbs.

“I think the election is going to have more of an impact on the direction of our country than probably any election we have been apart of, or will be apart of for years to come,” he continued.

He said he had made the trip to talk with officials about “our private business projects That are all moving forward.” NPR wasn’t able to confirm the veracity of that claim.

Boelter was looking to return to the food industry after working in convenience stores and as a food services manager for many years.

“We are still exploring that,” said Evans with the Minnesota BCA. “There are certainly some overlap with some public meetings, I will say, with Senator Hoffman and the individual but we don’t know the nature of the relationship or if they actually knew each other.”

State Attorney General Vance Luther Boelter: On a Manhunt for a Minnesota Lawmaker and the Victims of Hortman’s Shooting

An act of political violence was committed. The foundation of our democracy is peaceful discourse. The flags in the state were lowered to half-staff in honor of a great leader, as the man who ordered them flew the flag said that we don’t settle our differences with violence or at gunpoint.

“In order to make our state a better place, you must wake up each day determined to do so,” Walz said in the order. “She served the people of Minnesota with grace, compassion, and tirelessness.”

A nationwide manhunt is in its second day for Vance Luther Boelter, 57, who has been identified by law enforcement agencies in Minnesota as the primary suspect in the targeted shootings early Saturday morning that left Democratic state lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband dead.

NPR found no record of the firm having clients or providing any services. A company’s phone number was connected to the private phone line that seems to be a business. The address listed in the papers was that of a firm specializing in divorce litigation.

Boelter’s plan was to open a security firm and buy police-style cars for the business, but the project never came to fruition. “That was some fantasy. There was talk about it, but there was no movement,” he said.

“I love you guys and I’ve made some choices,” Carlson read. I may be dead by the end of the day, I wish it hadn’t gone this way. Boelter hadn’t spoken about the issue in years but he strongly opposed abortion rights.

Drew Evans, commissioner of the Minnesota’s state Bureau of Criminal Apprehensions [BCA], said during the press conference Saturday that part of the investigation is now focused on Boelter’s background, training and alleged motives.

Numerous lawmakers and public officials in Minnesota, including Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, a Democrat, have said publicly they were on a list of other individuals allegedly considered targets by Boelter.

“It would be premature for me at this point to really say exactly what the motivation might be from these writings,” he added, adding that it’s unclear whether he had any specialized experience or training.

Evans said Boelter left a message for law enforcement, which hasn’t yet been made public.

David Carlson lives at an address in Minneapolis where the police executed a search warrant for Mr. Boelter and said he has been one of his best friends since fourth grade. Mr. Boelter lives in Green Isle, Minn., an hour’s drive away. Mr. Carlson said that Mr. Boelter also rented a room in the same home as him, and stayed there several days a week.

Julie Bosman , Kevin Draper , Adam Goldman , Bernard Mokam and Jay Senter contributed reporting. Jack Begg and Kitty Bennett contributed research.

Mr. Carlson read a text message that he had received from Mr. Boelter early on Saturday morning, in which he wrote that he might be dead soon. The message did not describe any details of the attacks, Mr. Carlson said.

Tax forms show Mr. Boelter and his wife once led a Christian nonprofit. An earlier version of the group’s website showed Mr. Boelter as an ordination minister in 1993.

It was not clear when the video was uploaded, but Mr. Boelter said he worked six days a week for two funeral homes in the Minneapolis area. He helped to remove bodies from crime scenes, and worked with police officers and death investigators.

The spokesman said that Mr. Boelter took mortuary science classes online at the Des Moines Area Community College.

On Friday, Mr. Boelter had given Mr. Carlson four months’ worth of advance rent payments — which was about $220 a month — for a small room in the shared house. Mr. Carlson left him alone because he said he needed some rest.
