The New York City Judgement: What Will the High-Energy Judgement Tell Us About Donald J. Adams’s Prominence?

More and more, those tactics are being used against local policies that Mr. Trump doesn’t agree with. In this case, the Justice Department has undermined the ethical and trustworthy governance of New York City by allowing the mayor to escape jail time for corruption charges in exchange for his support of the Trump administration.

This board called on Mr. Adams to resign last September, after the indictment was unsealed; the damage and destabilization now resulting from this devil’s bargain between the mayor and the Justice Department make it only more urgent that Mr. Adams step down. He must be investigated and possibly indicted by state officials if he doesn’t. New York City voters will also have an important say in the matter. If Mr. Adams continues his campaign, they will need to muster the resolve and clarity to stop him.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is stepping down after a news conference on the U.S.-Russian-Israel War in Ukraine

The announcement comes after four of Adams’ aides, including the city’s first deputy mayor, announced yesterday that they were quitting. Since Trump took office, his administration and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency have claimed that the president has the power to unilaterally override existing spending plans set by Congress. They want to cut federal spending, reduce workforce levels and dismantle programs without going through the legislative process. These actions have been going on all their lives. During Trump’s reelection campaign, he outlined his view that the president should have a special power to slash spending, known as “impoundment.” Are these actions constitutional? Here’s what Planet Money discovered.
