Vaccination Policy in the U.S. Revisited: When Will a 71-Year-Old Senator Stop Fighting Vaccines?

Kennedy didn’t answer questions directly on his anti-vaccine activism. Many senators described Kennedy as extremely influential. Cassidy said that he had some people who used to credit him for the decision not to vaccine their child.

Cassidy’s support could be crucial for Kennedy. He serves on the Finance committee which has the power to block Kennedy’s nomination from reaching a full Senate vote.

Kennedy said he would be happy to meet Cassidy about the fact that there is no link between the two diseases and the fact that there is other research as well.

Those kinds of remarks seemed to trouble Cassidy, who spoke about a young patient he treated in Louisiana facing liver failure from Hepatitis B, which could have been prevented if the patient had been vaccinated. He said that two children died from vaccine preventable diseases. He said his experiences as a physician convinced him of the importance of vaccines.

Can the 71 year old man who spent decades attacking vaccines, who is financially vested in finding fault with them, change his mind now that he’s the most important position affecting vaccine policy in the United States? Cassidy asked. “I got to figure that out for my vote.”

Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., brought the room to silence while questioning Kennedy Thursday, speaking tearfully about her 36-year-old son’s cerebral palsy.

Democrats continued questioning Kennedy on some of his wilder claims that lack evidence, including that WiFi and 5G cause cancer, that AIDS is a different disease in Africa than in the U.S., and that Lyme disease may have been developed as a military bioweapon.

Kennedy wrote on his social media that it’s hard to tell what is a conspiracy theory and what is not, if elected, after being confronted about a post he made regarding the 9/11 attacks.

He was questioned by Ranking Member Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., about Congressional Republican proposals to make dramatic cuts to Medicaid. Kennedy said he hadn’t seen those proposals. If you are confirmed, you will have a great deal of influence on health care policy.

Vaccination and Black Lives: Why Blacks are Faint and Why Black Boys Aren’t Compared to Other Races

Dr. Carlos del Rio said that the conclusion was being taken to a very unsafe place because of the low vaccination rates among Black children.

In response, Kennedy cited a well-known vaccine researcher and said there are a “series of studies” showing that “to particular antigens blacks have a much stronger reaction.”

“Do you think I should have had different vaccine schedule?” said Alsobrooks, who’s black. That is dangerous with all due respect.

“The data do not show that one racial group experiences increased harm or autoimmunity compared to any other racial group,” says study author Richard Kennedy.

Kennedy said the study showed that the vaccines will push the immune response over the cliff and the bodies of black boys will begin to think it is a foreign invader.
