Tim Walz and Reproductive Rights: What Do We Expect to See in the Democratic National Convention Finale? A Personal Address to the 78th Anniversary of the DNC

As is traditional for the third night of a political convention, the headlining speaker of the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday will be the vice-presidential nominee, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota.

Some people who aren’t famous or serving in official capacities will be heard from by watchers who want to emphasize what the Harris- Walz campaign is about. At least two Republicans who have turned against former President Donald J. Trump are also set to take the stage.

Reproductive rights was again a focus of the night, along with justice and the theme of “joy,” as senior Democrats sought to paint a picture of unity under Kamala Harris and chaos with Donald Trump.

Coming out to standing ovation and a sea of “Coach Walz” banners in the arena, Tim Walz went on to deliver a personal and comparatively short address to the DNC.

“Let’s cut to the chase. I am too old to gild the lily,” said Clinton, who recently turned 78. He said he was still younger than Donald Trump.

Clinton continued, “We have a choice: We The People orMe, Myself, and I.” “We The People” was the Wednesday theme of the convention.

“We’re now so fired up, we can’t wait to leave here and do something, and what we’re gonna do is elect Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States,” she said.

“The makeup of my kitchen table, the existence of my family is just one example of something that was literally impossible as recently as 25 years ago when an anxious teenager growing up in Indiana wondered if he would ever find belonging in this world,” he said.

In addition to musical and comedic performances by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Kenan Thompson, Amanda Gorman delivered a poem to rouse the audience in celebration of Harris. In tune with the night’s theme of freedom, Gorman spoke of the “audacity of hope” and vitality of voting in this election.

“I joined the Army when I was 17. I was not old enough to sign the paperwork. He had to ask his mother to sign the paperwork for him because he didn’t have bone spurs.

“I am a Demonstration I’m a Republican, but I Know You are an American,” Harris told a crowd at the 2020 Hamas Convention in Gaza

We have to choose bravery over complacence. “This is the time to go vote,” the singer said. “Even though our hearts have been beaten and broken, beyond prayer I know the importance of action. And now is the time to understand where we are and what it will take to win.”

A group of Republicans pledged their support to Harris, who was painting Trump as a threat to American democracy.

“I am a Republican, but tonight I stand here as an American,” Duncan told the cheering crowd. “An American who cares more about the future of this country than the future of Donald Trump.”

Some people are making content while others speak at the convention. She told All Things Considered she sees herself as an activist, and that she does not pretend to be impartial.

One of her predecessors in the position, Cecile Richards, spoke after an address from several leaders of prominent advocacy groups.

“We cannot call ourselves a free nation when women are not free,” she said, speaking in detail about the challenges faced by those seeking reproductive care and abortion access in America.

In August 2020 Troye gave up her White House job as a Homeland Security and Counter terrorism adviser after seeing what dangers the leadership of Trump posed to the country.

An emotional Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg, parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin held hostage by Hamas in Gaza since Oct. 7, took to the podium calling for a cease-fire deal so that the 109 remaining Hamas hostages can return home.

Polin and Goldberg have taken to wearing a piece of tape with the number of days their son has been held captive written in marker and placed on their chest. Today it read: 320.
