EV owners can get a free Supercharger from Ford until July
The Status of EV Charging Stations: Evidence from an Autonomous Powertrain Consumer Research Campaign on the Road to the Next-Generation Plug
Ford piloted the model last May when it said it would adopt that plug. Its EVs will come with the connector standard by 2025. Existing Mach-E mustang and Lightning pick-up truck drivers will be able to order a free adapters from a website launched by Ford today, which will allow them to gain access to a large part of theTesla supercharger network. Between now and July, the store will be selling the adapters for less than $200. The company expects the products to arrive in March.
Williams said that they are supply constraints as they move forward. We believe the demand will exceed the supply, but we’re going to try to manage that on a first come first serve basis.
In North America, additional charging stations are on their way thanks in part to a US program that seeks to get at least half a million more in the ground by 2030. In this messy middle period, the auto manufacturers came up with another solution – let the electric car company take care of it.
Ford and other auto manufacturers have said they will produce EV’s with factory-installed NACS ports, obviating the need for adapters. The vehicles are not expected to arrive until at least 2025, according to estimates.
Electric vehicle owners are contacted every six months by the automotive research company to find out how their car is driving. The latest edition of this survey, out this week, found that EV’s perennial bugbear is still bugbear-ing. It’s gotten worse as drivers say they are even more dissatisfied with the public charging stations than a year ago.
