Mr Boelter urged his followers to vote in the election since he had traveled to places where voters could not choose their leaders.

Authorities said Boelter disguised himself as a law enforcement officer during the attack and news reports have focused on his apparent work as a security professional. NPR’s review found that many of the claims about Boelter’s professional life seem to be false.

He said that there were people who didn’t know what sex they were. They’re confused and don’t know their sexual orientation. The enemy has been in their mind and soul.

Mr. Boelter delivered several sermons at the church. In a video of one that was posted online, he appeared to criticize gay and transgender people.

More recently, he had said on LinkedIn that he was the chief executive of a company called Red Lion Group, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, dedicated to creating “good jobs for local people,” according to its website.

State reports and his LinkedIn profile indicate that he was recently a general manager of a 7-Eleven in Minneapolis and, before that, had worked as the general manager of a gas station in St. Paul. A report in 2017 listed him as an executive at an energy company.

Boelter did serve multiple terms on the Minnesota governor’s Workforce Development Board, where authorities say he may have met state Sen. Hoffman, one of the shooting victims.

The firm says it offers only armed security. If you want to find better guards, you should work with another service, the website says.

Mr. Boelter is listed as the director of security patrols on the website of Praetorian Guard Security Services, a Minnesota-based company that says it provides private patrols and uniformed security. His wife is listed as the president. The website says that the same make and model of vehicles many police departments use are used by the firm.

U.S. Senator Tina Smith, Democrat of Minnesota, said in an interview that the gunman had a target list that included her name and the names of other lawmakers, all of whom were Democrats.

The police say that the suspect in the attacks went to the homes of two lawmakers and pretended to be a police officer. He shot and wounded Senator Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, and also killed her husband, Mark. He’s still on the run.

A state report in 2016 listed Mr. Boelter’s political affiliation as “none or other,” and another report in 2020 listed him as having “no party preference.” Voters in Minnesota don’t declare their political affiliation when they register.

Mr. Boelter was appointed to the board in 2016 by Mark Dayton, a Democrat who was then the governor. More recently, he was appointed by Gov. Tim Walz, also a Democrat. The board is made up of people appointed by the governor, and its goal is improved business development in the state.

Mr. Boelter and Senator Hoffman attended a virtual meeting together in 2022 for a discussion about the job market in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, minutes from the meeting show.

The man suspected of shooting two Democratic state lawmakers in Minnesota early on Saturday had served on a state board with one of the victims, records show.

The police said the man who attacked two Minnesota state lawmakers was pretending to be a police officer and was going to their homes.

“I think the election is going to have more of an impact on the direction of our country than probably any election we have been apart of, or will be apart of for years to come,” he continued.

He said he traveled to speak with officials about some private business projects. NPR wasn’t able to confirm the veracity of that claim.

“We are still exploring that,” said Evans with the Minnesota BCA. We don’t know the nature of the relationship between Senator Hoffman and the individual but we do know there are some overlaps with public meetings.

“This was an act of targeted political violence. Peaceful discourse is the foundation of our democracy. We don’t settle our differences with violence or at gunpoint,” said Walz, who ordered flags in the state flown at half-staff in honor of Hortman, calling her “a great leader.”

According to Minnesota Public Radio’s report, Walz said that he woke up every day determined to make our state a better place. She served the people of Minnesota with honor, compassion, and dedication.

The nationwide search for a man identified by law enforcement agencies as the main suspect in the murders of a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband has gone on for a second day.

NPR did not find a record of the firm providing any services. A call to the company’s phone number connected to what appears to be a private phone line, not a business. The address listed in the papers seemed to be a law firm that was specialized in divorce litigation.

During his time in Minnesota, Mr. Boelter talked about abortion rights and police-style security firm ‘Boelter’

Boelter had planned to open a security firm and purchase police-style automobiles, but the project was never realized. That was a piece of fiction. There was talk about it, but there was no movement,” he said.

He said it wouldn’t be right to say what the motivation was from the writings at this point, even if he did have training or experience.

Evans said that a written message Boelter left, which hasn’t been made public yet, was recovered by law enforcement.
