After being shot and arrested, Trump takes on a new term

The First 100 Days of Donald Trump: A New Standard for Presidential Action and a New Hope for the Future of the American Dream, as Revised by Robert Jeffress

There is no question that Donald Trump’s ambition in the first 100 days of his return to the Oval Office was to set a new standard for presidential accomplishment. To rival, even surpass, the scope of Franklin Roosevelt’s efforts nearly a century ago, when he moved so quickly — and so decisively — that he established the first 100 days as a yardstick for executive action.

His loyal supporters have been thrilled by the new moves he has made and his opponents have been scared by them. In his own telling, Mr. Trump is putting America on the path to the “golden age” that he promised in his inaugural address, while his adversaries fear that it is instead the path to a new dark age of autocracy, repression and upheaval.

Robert Jeffress, the evangelical pastor from Dallas, who was invited to an Easter dinner at the White House, said the president is focused on what he wants to accomplish. The trials and tribulations of the past few years, including the 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pa., took time to process, Mr. Jeffress added. “But I think he came to the conclusion — the right conclusion — that God has a purpose for him.”
