The Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will be open at 11AM
GameStop Opens the Mario Kart World Bundle April 24th at 11AM ET / 8AM PT at 59:499.99
At 11:34AM ET, deals-hunter Wario64 posted that GameStop’s Switch 2 preorders were actually live. A few Verge staffers were then able to get a console in their cart, and one was actually able to make a purchase, but they didn’t get a confirmation email from GameStop until shortly after 1PM ET.
The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a set of Joy-Con 2 controllers that attach to the console and a new button called the “C-button” that can be used in-game. Inside the box, you will also find a dock with a redesign, Joy-Con wrist straps, an AC adapter, and aUSB-C charging capable.
If you’ve been eyeing the new Mario Kart game, you’ll probably want Nintendo’s limited release Switch 2 bundle. Like the standard console, GameStop will open online preorders for the $499.99 Mario Kart World bundle today, April 24th, at 11AM ET / 8AM PT, with in-store availability starting when locations open today. The Mario Kart World bundle will cost you $30 more than the retail price for the game alone, but you can get it for free through fall 2025, which is when supplies last. The bundle includes the standard configuration of Mario Kart World, as well as Joy-Con 2 controllers, a dock, and the required HDMI cable.
GameStop, a game changer in the digital age: Experiences with Cloudflare adversarial servers and bad gateways at Verge
Many of us experienced issues with the website when the clock went over to 11AM. At first, GameStop’s website showed me a mostly-blank page – the only text on it was “Oops…Something went wrong” And a refresh button. Soon after, myself and other Verge staffers often saw Cloudflare notices on GameStop’s website instead, including error notices that said the “web server is down” or that the site is experiencing a “bad gateway.”
