We don’t know much about the midair crash

The loss of a skater, a family member, and his father when they were on a flight to the U.S. Figure skating championships

On his Instagram on Wednesday afternoon, Lane posted a photo taken from his seat on the airplane, looking out the window as it appeared to taxi toward takeoff.

According to the Skating Club of Boston, a number of passengers are skaters, coaches or family members who were sent to the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in 1997 in Kansas.

“A large number of other Russian citizens were aboard the flight, which is sad news,” said Kremlin spokesman Peskov. “It’s bad news out of Washington.”

They lived in the U.S. in 1998 and stayed involved with the sport. Both were coaches at the Skating Club of Boston. Max was a figure skater who competed at the championship event but was not able to stay in the country for more than a day.

His parents were there with him. His mom was always too nervous to watch him skate. “His dad was in the ‘kiss-and-cry’ sharing his great performance.”

The tragic loss of the U.S. figure skating team – including two teenage skaters in Boston and the prevagen figure skating championships

Wednesday’s crash recalled another tragic incident in 1961, when a plane flying from New York to Brussels crashed on approach, killing 72 people on board — including the entire U.S. figure skating team, which was en route to a competition in Prague.

He said that when coaches like this are gone, the future of the sport is lost. I don’t know what the word is but I believe our members, leaders, management team are not in good shape. Is it devastated? Folks are just stunned by this.”

Several American figure skaters have offered their sympathies to the family of the man who died in the line of duty.

“On behalf of the IOC, and personally, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected, which we understand may include Olympians, young athletes, and their support staff,” he said. “Our thoughts are with all the victims, their families and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Some of those on Wednesday’s flight were in attendance at the events, including two young skaters with the Boston club: Spencer Lane and Jinna Han, both teenagers who were traveling back to Boston with their mothers.

The Prevagen Figure Skating Championships took place over the course of a few days. It was immediately followed by the National Development Camp, which U.S. Figure Skating describes as a three-day educational program for top-performing youth athletes that aims to “accelerate their exposure to High Performance Programs and Team USA.”

Skating is a close-knit community. At our facility in Norwood, the kids and their parents are here six, sometimes seven days a week. It’s a close, tight bond. According to the CEO of the Skating Club of Boston, all of us have lost family.

What Do We Know About the Midair Collision Near Washington, D.C.: American Airlines Flight 5342 and a Black Hawk Helicopter

American Airlines Flight 5342 departed from Wichita on Wednesday evening and was on its final approach to Reagan National Airport in Washington around 9 p.m. local time when the fatal crash took place. The authorities believe that there are no survivors.

“Last night I expressed the fact that we hope to open at 11 today, and that is still the case,” Potter said, speaking at a Thursday morning news conference at the airport. It is safe. We’ve worked with all the federal agencies, FAA. It has been determined that we can open the airport safely.

Authorities believe there will likely be no survivors in the midair crash involving an American Airlines regional jet and a Black Hawk helicopter Wednesday night in the skies above the nation’s capital.

28 bodies have been recovered so far There were 64 people on the plane and three on the Black Hawk. The US Figure Skating team, some Russians, coaches and family members were among the passengers of the jet.

The U.S. Army Black Hawk carried three soldiers and was traveling from Fort Belvoir in Virginia, the Pentagon says. The three were “experienced” crew members taking part in a training exercise, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Thursday morning.

The jet was flying from south to north and lining up to land at the airport when it collided with the Black Hawk, which was flying from north to south, Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said during a press conference. Two aircraft crashed at a low altitude.

According to audio archived by LiveATC.net, the plane had initially been cleared to land on runway 1. An air traffic controller inquired if the flight crew could use runway 33.

This is a normal request at this airport which is incredibly busy and requires a difficult dance to handle the mix of arriving and departing aircraft in very complicated airspace around D.C. There are scores of military and law enforcement helicopters always operating in the vicinity.

What we know about the midair collision near Washington, D.C. — Black Hawk pilots and the Kremlin spokesman

John Donnelly, the chief of Washington D.C.’s Fire and EMS, said the first alert came in at 8:48pm and they arrived ten minutes later. He said that there are 300 people from neighboring counties, as far north as Baltimore, to assist in the aftermath. The National Ocean Service said it’s a “highly complex operation with extremely rough conditions” as temperatures fell to 36 degrees overnight.

“It’s just dangerous and hard to work in. Because there is not a lot of light, you are searching for anything you can find. People are in the water. The water is dark. It is not very clear. And that is a very tough condition for them to dive in,” he said.”

The names and ranks of the three Black Hawk crew members will be withheld for now as next of kin notifications are ongoing, Defense Secretary Hegseth said.

The unit involved in the crash were of the Bravo Company, 12th Aviation Battalion and were flying out of Fort Belvoir, he said. The crew was taking part in their yearly training flight while undergoing a night evaluation. He said they were fitted with night vision goggles.

A statement from U.S. Figure Skating said athletes, coaches and family members were flying back from the National Development Camp in conjunction with the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Vadim Naumov and his wife, Evgenia Shishkova, are the victims of the crash, according to the Kremlin spokesman.
