After Trump shut down the CBP One App, Mexico rushes to help stranded migrants
The Mexico Embraces You Program: An Action Plan to Reinvigorate the Enforcement of Donald Trump’s First Law in the U.S.
Unscrupulous immigrants are no longer able to submit information in advance and make scheduled appointments at eight Southwest border ports of entry thanks to the changes made to the CBP One mobile app. The appointments that were scheduled through the app have been canceled.
Parole allowed migrants to temporarily be in the country. Permission to work was granted to them. In his broad order, Mr. Trump included this directive.
Deactivating the program on Monday sent some 30,000 migrants with existing appointments into limbo, and left them and future migrants without an orderly way to come into the country.
Another directive in Mr. Trump’s broad “Securing Our Borders” order, is to reinstate a program he created during his first term called the “Migrant Protection Protocols,” which is known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy. The migrants are forced to wait in Mexico while the immigration judge makes a decision.
The Mexican government has announced the Mexico Embraces You program, which includes economic and social services for Mexicans deported from the United States. This measure is in response to the strict immigration policy that President Donald Trump announced on January 20, and which has already begun to materialize with the closure of the CBP One app.
The SEGOB has trained public servants from the governments of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Chiapas, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla, Michoacán, Guanajuato, State of Mexico, Sinaloa, and Jalisco for the proper implementation of the Mexico Affirms you plan. The Human Rights Commission and the Business Coordinating Council are claimed to have coordinated efforts.
Federal authorities say the plan is designed to allow Mexican migrants to join existing social programs that include pensions for senior citizens and people with disabilities.
The Mexican Social Security Institute is affiliated with repatriated Mexicans. Sickness, maternity, work risks, disability and life, retirement, and for severance in advanced age and old age will be covered by the program. They will also be able to enjoy all social benefits and childcare services provided by the Social Security Law. The benefits will also be available to the parents of the deportee.
Rodriguez adds that Mexicans expelled from the United States will also receive legal advice to help them obtain documents of identification, such as birth certificates, voter’s credentials, and the Clave Única de Registro de Población (Unique Population Registry Code). They will have access to the National Workers’ Housing Fund Institute, as well as the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development.
Donald Trump confirmed in his inaugural address that he will declare a state of emergency on the Mexican border to stop what he called “an invasion by illegal intruders.” He promised to act quickly and forcefully. His statements have begun to take effect.
The app was designed to simplify immigration procedures in the border region. Mexican authorities say the tool was designed to serve illegal migrants and avoid border pressure from those seeking asylum.
Sheinbaum anticipated its closure in a statement from the SEGOB, published before Trump’s inauguration. She said that “this application has helped migrants not have to go to the northern border to wait for asylum. We are going to propose that this application or other related ones be allowed.”
