The main Gaza crossing has been halted because it is too dangerous

World Central Kitchen: Israel’s response to the Sept. 7 Israeli strike does not implicate a “massive humanitarian crisis in Gaza”

The decision could worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as the cold, rainy winter sets in, with hundreds of thousands of people living in squalid tent camps and reliant on international food aid. Experts were already warning of famine in the territory’s north, which Israeli forces have almost completely isolated since early October.

The Israeli military said it was not aware of strikes in either location. Israel says its only targeting militant and trying to avoid harm to civilians, but it frequently kills women and children in Gaza.

The charity stopped aid work in Gaza because of the Israeli strike that killed seven of its workers. The organization returned to the region to resume operations a few weeks later. The strike targeting aid workers was a mistake according to Israel.

The U.S.-based organization, founded by celebrity chef José Andrés and his wife Patricia in 2010, delivers food to people on the front lines of natural and humanitarian disasters.

The charity said it had no knowledge that any individual in the vehicle had alleged ties to the Oct. 7 attack. World Central Kitchen said it is temporarily pausing operations in Gaza.

The World Central Kitchen said in a statement that it was “heartbroken” by the news of the strike in Khan Younis and that it was “urgently seeking more details.”

Israeli airstrike hits a Gazan civilian, killing at least five, and injuring at least three Palestinians: Israel’s camp of Israel haters and UN says it is halting aid through main Gaza crossing

An Israeli airstrike hit a car in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing five people, including at least three workers with the charity World Central Kitchen, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

He was asked by an interviewer with a local news outlet whether there was a residence in the area. There is no beth Hanoun. (They are) operating now in Jabaliya, and (they) are actually cleaning the territory of Arabs.”

Netanyahu’s Likud party criticized his earlier remarks, accusing him of making “false statements” that are “a prize for the International Criminal Court and the camp of Israel haters.”

The indictments were issued against Netanyahu, another former defense minister, and a Hamas commander. There are allegations of genocide against Israel by the International Court of Justice.

The war has destroyed vast areas of the coastal enclave and displaced 90% of the population of 2.3 million, often multiple times. Hundreds of thousands have crammed into squalid tent camps where the cold, wet winter has made conditions worse.

The UN says it is halting aid through main Gaza crossing because route is too dangerous, and an attack on the refugee camp in Gaza

Since the summer of 2008, the United States, Egypt, and some other countries have been trying to negotiate a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza but their efforts ceased when Israel rejected Hamas’ demand for a complete withdrawal from the territory. The Biden administration will try to get a deal in its last weeks in office.

Donald Trump promised to end the wars in the Middle East with no mention of how. He stood up for Israel and its policies toward the Palestinians during his previous term.

Moshe Yaalon, who served as defense minister under Benjamin Netanyahu before quitting in 2016 and emerging as a fierce critic of the prime minister, said the current far-right government is determined to “occupy, to annex, to ethnically cleanse.”

The army has sealed off the northern towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya, and the Jabaliya refugee camp, and allowed almost no humanitarian aid to enter. Tens of thousands of people have fled, while the United Nations estimates up to 75,000 remain and experts have warned of famine.

The main cargo crossing into Gaza is being stopped by the UN because of the threat of armed gangs.

Philippe Lazzarini, the head of UNRWA, the main aid provider in Gaza, said the route leading to the Kerem Shalom crossing from Israel is too dangerous on the Gaza side. In mid-November, gangs stole a small shipment on the route and in November, armed men stole nearly 100 trucks.

There were air raid sirens going off in central Israel after a projectile was fired in Yemen by Iran-backed rebels. The Israeli military said it intercepted the projectile before it entered Israeli territory.

Israel’s government has been accused of ethnic cleansing in northern Gaza by a former top general and defense minister.
