Amazon has two new smart displays, the Show 21 and Show 15
The Echo Show 21 and the Echo Show 15: The Smartest Move of a TV and a Wall Mounted Surface Display at Amazon
The 21-inch display of the Amazon’s new device, the Echo Show 21, is larger than any other device in its class. It’s a larger version of the Echo Show 15 ($300), a 15-inch display, which also got its second generation today. If you don’t know anything about smart displays, think of a smart speaker but replace it with a screen that will display your smart devices, allow you to make video calls with the built-in camera, and play music. Both these new devices promise an upgrade in audio quality compared with the first-gen Echo Show 15, with more bass and room-adaptation technology. It’s a smart move, since these large displays sit somewhere between smart display and small TV. Amazon includes an Alexa Voice Remote with both devices so you can actually use it like you would a TV.
Both models feature the customizable widgets that first arrived on the Show 15, including a calendar, smart home controls, shopping, and to-do lists. You can now play audio across speakers with a refreshed audio module, it will show all your favorite audio content and let you tap a group to play.
You can purchase The Show 21 and Show 15 now at Amazon, as well as carry the wall-mounting equipment. A countertop stand is sold separately.
You can make video calls from these screens if you have a camera at the top and a microphone at the bottom. Amazon added noise reduction technology to make calls clearer, and it says there’s a bigger field of view on Show 21 and second-gen Show 15. If you don’t want to use the camera, there’s a physical shutter to cover it.
