The front door can be changed into an opaque state with a voice command
The Smart Glass Feather River Door and Hubspace: A Home Improvement Product for the Home Depot Consumer Electronics Inclusive Smart Home System
The smart glassFeather River door has a built-in smart glass that is prehung. You can change the glass on the door with a button on it, and you can use The Home Depot’s Hubspace app to control it from your phone. The glass can be set on a schedule so it is clear during the day and opaque at night. The door costs more for a three-quarters lite and a half lite than it does for a full lite.
Home depot has a smart- home platform called Hubspace. It works the same as any other smart- home app, with options to control your Hubspace devices and create schedules. While Hubspace is a lesser-known name and a little newer to the space after launching in 2021, everything I’ve tested from it has worked well. It also plays nice with the two most popular voice assistants, so it’s pretty painless to add to your home.
The smart glass door is the retail giant’s first Hubspace collaboration with a third party. It works with the Hubspace app and can connect to smart home systems like Amazon Alexa or Google Home to use a voice command to make your door clear or opaque.
The smart glass works over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and requires power. The battery built into the frame can be used to power up a USB cable if it’s nearby. The battery is removable, and the door comes with a second battery and a charger.
The door is designed to fit a standard entryway and comes with a frame and weather stripping for easy installation. The home improvement store states that the glass is an exterior security strength and an option is coming soon.
Smart home gadgets have no limits these days. If you have enough gusto, you can replace all of the lights in your house. Smart door locks and video doorbells are added to front doors every so often, so why not make the door itself smart?
The smart glass door has a nice look thanks to the fiberglass construction, window, and decorative panels at the bottom. The four window size options let the smart glass fill just the top quarter of the door’s center. The cheapest door is the Craftsman-style one that has a small window and costs less than the other two.
