There isn’t an endorse a candidate for the year 2024

Teamsters Governing Body: A Break for the United States, Not Just a Tribute to Kamala Harris and Bill Clinton

“The most pivotal U.S. presidential election in the memory of most people, and one of the most important unions is saying, ‘we’re going to sit this one out.’ There’s something about that picture that doesn’t quite make sense,” Shaiken said.

The announcement comes as a blow to Vice President Kamala Harris, who met with Teamsters leadership for a roundtable discussion on Monday. A poll conducted by the union showed almost sixty percent of the members wanted leadership to back Trump. An internal poll conducted by phone showed 58% of members supported Trump, compared to 31% backing Harris.

The last Democratic presidential candidate to get the endorsement of the Teamsters was Bill Clinton. But O’Brien made headlines in July when he became the first Teamsters president to speak at the Republican National Convention in the union’s history.

Democrats have historically carried union households by large margins. In the fall of 2016 Trump was able to cut into the lead, as he went on to win the presidency. President Biden won each of those states four years later.

The Teamsters are Doomed: Trump’s Outburst to Musk During a Tribute to the UAW is Economic Terrorism

“They go on strike and you say, ‘That’s OK, you’re all gone,'” Trump said to Musk during a conversation on X, formerly known as Twitter. Those comments prompted the United Auto Workers to file federal labor charges against Trump and Musk. O’Brien said in a statement that firing workers for organizing, striking, and exercising their rights as Americans is economic terrorism.

O’Brien urged the Republicans to put forward an agenda that protects workers and is more labor-friendly. Less than a month later, though, Trump praised Tesla CEO Elon Musk for threatening to fire striking workers.

“The Teamsters are not interested if you have a D, R, or an I next to your name.,” O’Brien said during his primetime RNC remarks. “We want to know one thing: What are you doing to help American workers?” He said former President Trump was a candidate who is not afraid of hearing from new, loud, and often critical voices and one tough S.O.B., in light of the July 13 attempt on his life.

“As the vice president told the Teamsters on Monday, when she is elected president, she will look out for the Teamsters rank-and-file no matter what — because they always have been and always will be the people she fights for,” Hitt added.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters is not endorsing a candidate for the presidency in a move that sets them apart from other major labor unions.

Why Teamsters won’t endorse a candidate for 2024. And, how to avoid credit card debt: A first-principles analysis of the gender differences among black girls in public schools

Morning Edition got to see how production of defence equipment contributes to northeastern Pennsylvania’s economy. The plant’s development of artillery rounds has ramped up since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Scranton, once a hub for coal mining and small American manufacturing, now relies on defense installations for good, high-paying jobs. Keeping up withUkraine’s needs is hard.

Falling behind on credit card bills is more common than you might think, especially when the ins and outs of how they work can be confusing. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York says that people under the age of 30 are the most likely to be maxed out on their credit limit. This puts them at a greater risk of missing a payment. John Kiernan, managing editor at the personal finance website WalletHub, says there are ways to keep your bills under control.

In a report shared with NPR, it was found that black girls in public schools face harsher punishment, such as expulsion, than their white counterparts. The report takes nearly a year and a half to complete and gives a first-of- it’s kind snapshot of the difference in the treatment of Black girls within public school systems. Some of the factors that tied into the increased discipline include school poverty levels, the percentage of girls facing disabilities, the number of new teachers and the presence of a school resource officer. The report is due to be released today by the congressional watchdog.
