What to Expect in the Trump-Harris Presidential Debate and How to Watch It: A Response to Trump’s Post on Truth Social

Trump has spent the past week posting about other conspiracies regarding the debate as well. On Saturday, he posted on Truth Social that there are boxes or artificial lifts that could be used on the debate stage to make her appear taller.

Trump said that he was going into hostile territory with ABC, which he accused of being the worst of everyone. Her best friend is the head of ABC, which is why I’m doing the debate.

Trump shared a link to an article on the right-wing website called Just the News which highlights the relationship of Harris and Walden. Alongside the link Trump wrote: “Rigged?”

The editorial aspect of ABC News is not affected by the fact that the brand is only one of 18 brands that she oversees at Disney. “All editorial decisions are in the hands of ABC News management and the seasoned journalists and producers of ABC, who hold themselves to the highest journalistic standards,” the network said in a statement to The New York Times last month.

The Kamala Harris-Trump debate: a discussion with Patrick Healy, Ross Douthat, David French, Michelle Goldberg, Tressie McMillan Cottom, and Patrick Bouie

“We had this out previously with former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg when he was in a debate, and he was not allowed a ‘lift,’” Trump wrote. “It would be a form of cheating, and the Democrats cheat enough.”

Ross Douthat: For Harris, at least, I think there’s a clear upside to acting like the debate is a contest of policy positions, however the media covers it. The campaign has been signaling to the public that she wants to interrupt and pick fights with Trump, in order to fact-check him.

Patrick Healy, the deputy Opinion editor, hosted an online conversation with the Times Opinion columnists Jamelle Bouie, Ross Douthat, David French, Michelle Goldberg and Tressie McMillan Cottom about Tuesday’s debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
