The Democratic National Convention Rules Committee meets after Biden’s Frozen Up-Old Pregalactic Candidate Joe Biden
Democrats called for President Biden to step down from the race in the interests of the party.
But Biden is planning to be back on the trail next week, the chair of his campaign said, making the case that party leaders should look at strong grassroots support for his candidacy and resolve their doubts over whether he should stay in the race for a second term.
Biden, who is isolating in his beach house after getting COVID earlier this week, was not expected to do any public events on Friday. The Democratic National Convention’s rules committee was scheduled to meet in August to plan how to ensure the party’s nominee is on the ballot by early state deadlines.
The party has gone through an excruciatingly public deliberation over the past three weeks after Biden froze up during a debate with former President Donald Trump. Top leaders in Congress have failed to deny a constant stream of leaks that they have appealed to Biden to step aside for a younger contender because they believe he can’t win the election.
He would be secure in his legacy as one of our nation’s greatest leaders and able to unite us behind a candidate who can defeat Donald Trump and safeguard our democracy if he passed the torch.
The process for lawmakers to raise concerns about the president’s viability as a candidate will take more time as they attend the convention this weekend, according to Democratic sources.
Does the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Against Biden Have Respect? A letter to the Democratic Leaders of the Causal Committee on Electoral Change
The political arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus endorsed Biden. In many races, the margin of victory will be decided by the Latino voters, from California and New Mexico to Arizona, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Nebraska.
She pointed out that Biden has respect for the leaders of the party because of the doubts voiced by congressional leaders and Barack Obama.
But O’Malley Dillon pointed to a letter now signed by 1,400 Black women leaders from across the country released this week that strongly backed Biden and urged party leaders to “stop the attacks” against him.
The women say in the letter that they reject all efforts to disregard the will of the millions of voters who voted for Biden.
O’Malley Dillon said that the campaign has “seen some slippage in support” since Biden’s disastrous debate, but said party volunteers have found strong interest on the ground in battleground states.
People aren’t moving away from Biden to Trump. They are asking us if he can do it. She said that the president is saying “Yes, I can”.
PROVINCETOWN, Mass./REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — Vice President Harris was back on the campaign trail this weekend, raising money for the Biden-Harris ticket on Cape Cod while President Biden remained sidelined by a case of COVID in his beach house in Delaware.
Hundreds of donors waved fans with a play on P-Town written on it in a large tent near the harbor.
Harris gets back on the trail as Biden recovers from COVID: An Observation of a Tenacious Prosecutor
Harris focused on former President Donald Trump’s policies that removed protections for discrimination for LGBTQ people for health care, employment, and students and his ban on transgender military service.
She said that legislation he proposed that would ban gender- affirming care will be a stamp of approval for Trump’s anti-gay agenda. That prompted a yell of “Go get ’em, Kamala!” from one of the donors.
Harris has not publicly engaged in the debate, and did not mention it in her Provincetown remarks. She said she was testing Biden’s ability to fight for everyday working Americans.
Takano said that she was a “tenacious prosecutor” who had the experience to beat Trump. I love Joe and respect him. The stakes are so high that you can’t fail. It’s time to pass the torch to Kamala,” Takano said in a statement.
If Biden pulls out, Elizabeth Warren said that Harris would unite the party and praised her work on economic issues and abortion rights. “If you’re running against a convicted felon, then you should use a prosecutor like Kamala in your case,” Warren said.

Biden‘s COVID results and how the Democrats are asking that he quit the Redistricting Convention after the Concluding Convention
Biden had been doing a lot of events, including a solo press conference and many interviews, to debunk any rumors about his age and abilities. He tested positive for COVID last week.
His doctor said in a memo on Saturday that Biden’s symptoms are improving, though he still has a cough. The pace at which the Democrats are asking Biden to leave has gone up since the convention ended.
Michael Tyler told reporters that the president would be back on the trail next week once he got permission to do so from his doctor.
