According to the survey, the Trump verdict would likely move only a small number of votes
Is Donald Trump a Good Candidate? The New York Trial Confronts Voter Choice Concerning the Future of the U.S.
Most people think that the outcome of the New York trial won’t affect their vote in the election, but that it could have an impact on some groups according to the latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll. The full results will be released later in the day.
Roughly 1 in 6 voters (17%) said a guilty verdict would make them less likely to vote for Trump. About a quarter of nonwhites and 1 in 5 voters who make less than $50,000 a year are also under 45.
Trump has made inroads with younger voters and non-white voters, but that support has often appeared soft, meaning they have yet to make up their minds.
The numbers show that even though the race is expected to be close, no matter the outcome of the trial, it won’t sway a lot of voters.
“I think it’s a big farce,” Duvall said. It is an attack on Trump. … I’ll vote for him more because of what they’re doing, because it’s illegal. If they put him in jail, I will still cast my vote for him.
The trial showed that I think people should not vote for Donald Trump. “I don’t think Donald Trump is good for the country.”
