Last year, the new standard for laptops called Chromebook Plus was introduced, and it means that they meet specific hardware requirements. The machines that cost more than $350 are calledChromebook Plus. To take advantage of the free 12 months for new Chromebooks owners, you must be a member of the oneai premium plan. This top-tier large language model is more capable than the free version. Several Chromebook makers are getting new machines this spring and more will be equipped with artificial intelligence by the fall.

Configurations include an Intel Core 7 150U or Core 5 120U processor and up to 16GB of memory, 2TB of storage, and 10 hours of battery life. Notably, while this laptop will work with Google AI and Gemini features both the Core 7 150U and Core 5 120U lack NPUs, which means they won’t be as nimble with on-device AI tasks as more equipped devices.

Many of these features are exclusive to Chromebook Plus laptops, which have specific RAM and processor requirements to ensure a specific level of performance. I’m currently typing this story on the new HP Chromebook Plus x360, powered by an Intel Core i3 chipset, and with more than 20 tabs open, everything is running smoothly.
