The new Apple Pencil Pro is better to draw with than other pencils
Haptics, Brushes, and Find My in the Apple Pencil Pro: Bringing Back USB-C and Bluetooth to the Fore
After taking the wraps off of a cheaper Apple Pencil with USB-C last year, Apple is back with another update. The new Apple Pencil Pro now supports haptic feedback, along with a new squeezing gesture you can use to open up a menu. It also lets you roll the Pencil to change brush shapes and supports Find My.
App developers can create their own custom interactions for the Apple Pencil. James Cuda gives some examples of brushes that respond in entirely new ways thanks to the Barrel Roll feature or by using the squeeze feature. The Barrel Roll feature also allows animators to move and rotate objects at the same time while recording actions in Procreate Dreams.
Adding support for Apple’s Find My device location system is also a welcome update for scatterbrained users who frequently lose their stylus. It’s easy to misplace a slim, pencil-shaped device, and I know firsthand how frustrating and expensive it is to replace an Apple Pencil that inevitably turns up months later after you’ve already torn your home apart looking for it.
Final Cut Camera: a new app for live multicam production and Apple announced its launch on the 10th-generation iPad at $349$
Final Cut Camera is a new app built for live multi camera production that will be released by Apple. The app syncs with the updated Final Cut Pro app and lets users “connect multiple iPhones or iPads to capture additional angles during a live multicam shoot or record professional video.”
The main appeal of the new Pro is its new accessories, the Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard. The keyboard looks really nice. Its aluminum body and enlarged trackpad are much higher-end than what we’ve seen from previous versions. It felt very similar to typing on my MacBook Air, which was clearly the goal.
Apple announced that it is reducing the price of its entry-level 10th- generation iPad to $349, following the launch of its new iPad Air and iPad Pro. That is $100 less than the previous starting price.
Speaking of the M4, Apple took the wraps off its new processor during its event. The process used for it is the more efficient 3nm and has a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. The chip is 50 percent faster than the M2 and Apple says it is an outrageously powerful chip for artificial intelligence.
The new iPad Pro: a lighter, thinner, and easier to hold and use, and an update on Apple’s Logic Pro audio workstation
For the first time the iPad Pro has a more vibrant display. The iPad Pro also sports a thinner profile, measuring just 5.3mm for the 11-inch version and 5.1mm for the 13-inch model.
New features for Apple’s Logic Pro digital audio workstation include a virtual bass player and keyboard player.
Apple just wrapped up its “Let Loose” event, where it showed off the newest additions to its iPad lineup in nearly two years. The event also gave us a first look at some new accessories and updated software.
It’s such a big difference that the larger model, which I’ve always felt was kind of preposterously huge, feels much more comfortable to hold and use. It now stands up to 13 inches larger than before. You can tell the difference between the Pro and the new Air from practically across the room, and as someone who has carried around an 11-inch Pro for the last year and a half, it’s really a big difference. I have a question about the new Pro: is it too thin? It feels rigid and sturdy enough in my hands, but there are always tradeoffs with a device like this. We have a lot of testing to do.
What’s the power of the M4 chip on the iPad? (Likely, as I always have), on the timescale of heavy-processing development
As for the M4 chip powering the whole thing? We will have to see. For most uses, the iPad has had more than enough horsepower for a long time — the M4 is clearly meant to power extremely intense use cases, like the new multicam setup in Final Cut Pro or some of the more advanced artistic features in apps like Procreate. It was very fast in the demo. The iPad is pretty much always super fast.
