Trump’s New York trial will not be held until April

The trial is slated for March 25, but a delay would allow the legal team to review the new materials and make sure that they are not being prejudiced.
The People don’t oppose a brief adjournment of up to 30 days, in order to allow adequate time for the person to review the records obtained from federal prosecutors.
The DISTRICT Attorney’s legal team said in the court filing that they wouldn’t object to the fact that Trump’s team would have 30 days to review the 31,000 records.
Donald Trump is accused of faking business records in order to keep damaging information out of the presidential election. The trial is expected to last about six weeks — even as Trump campaigns to be president once again.
Trump faces a 34-count felony indictment alleging that he falsified New York business records in order to conceal damaging information ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The truth of the payments and false records is known. Bragg needs to prove that Trump made them in order to further other crimes such as violating campaign finance law and mischaracterizing payments for taxes. Should the trial start on time, a decision could come by the summer of this year.
In Florida, Judge Aileen Cannon refused to dismiss charges that Trump unlawfully withheld classified documents after leaving office. She has not set a date for trial. Trump wants it to start in July, but prosecutors want it to start next year.
In Georgia, the trial of District Attorney Fani Willis was put off due to the challenge that allowed her to remain on the case.

As for the other Trump cases, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments on April 25 about whether the former president is immune from prosecution for events related to Jan. 6. There could be multiple cases against him depending on the court’s decision.
