There is confusion over Kate’s edited photo
The Princess of Wales and Associated Press: Health Updates after the Doctored Photo Released on October 30, 2012 at 8:24 PM ET
The doctored photo was pulled down by several news agencies. The Associated Press, for instance, noted the odd “alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand with the sleeve of her sweater” and stated, “At closer inspection it appears that the source has manipulated the image.”
On Mother’s Day, a picture of Kate sitting in a chair and sharing a hug with her children was released. Kate credited her husband with taking the picture.
The royal family issues two major health updates. The Princess of Wales is recovering after undergoing an operation. It says the princess will not return to public duties until afterEaster and that she will stay in the hospital for up to 14 days.
The questions grew from rumor to full-disclosure, after a short time. In its discussion of the photo, the AP noted that its standards prohibit substantial editing of an image, as well as the removal of “red eye” effects.
Why the Princess of Wales didn’t attend a Christmas Morning Church Service, but an Official Portrait of Kate Walks at the BAFTA Film Awards
Kate joins the rest of the royal family to attend a Christmas morning church service in Sandringham, Norfolk. The last time she was seen in an official capacity was the day before the family portrait is made public.
Hours later, Buckingham Palace announces King Charles III, 75, will have a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate gland, a condition it describes as benign. On January 29, Charles is discharged.
Even without Kate, Prince William is still seen walking the red carpet alone at the British Academy Film Awards.
Prince William pulled out of a memorial service at Windsor Castle because of “a personal matter.” William had been due to deliver a reading at the service for one of his godfathers, the late King Constantine of Greece, but less than an hour before the memorial was scheduled to start, it was announced that the prince would not be present. The reasons why Prince William couldn’t attend weren’t explained, but the Princess of Wales continued to be doing well.
U.S. websites publish grainy paparazzi photos appearing to show Kate in a car with her mother — what would be the first pictures of the princess to be published since her surgery. The pictures show a woman wearing sunglasses in the passenger seat of an SUV being driven by Kate’s mother. The Daily Mail reported that pictures of Kate were not published in the United Kingdom.
An announcement says that the Princess of Wales will appear at a military parade in June on the British Army website. A photo of Kate was on the tickets for the event. The palace says that it never confirmed her schedule.
The original post is still up in the US as of Monday morning. “Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” the caption reads. Mother’s Day is March 10 in the UK.
This image seems to have been manipulated, reported the AP in a so-called kill notification. AFP cited an “editorial issue,” and said that the photo “may no longer be used in any manner.” The New York Times and Washington Post took the picture down after they ran it.
