Families of Israeli Hostages are protesting to block aid to Gaza
The International Court of Justice and Israel’s refusal to grant a clear ruling on the cease-fire: What can Israel do about a war in Gaza?
Those who wanted a conclusive ruling on the cease-fire will not be happy with the International Court of Justice ruling. If the Biden administration insists that Netanyahu obeys the ruling, then lives could be saved.
Most of the deaths in conflicts I have covered, like Sudan, the Central African Republic, and other places, come from hunger and disease rather than bullets. That’s likewise a risk in Gaza, unless Israel permits more trucks carrying aid to enter the territory and then allows access for aid workers to distribute the food.
A secular man with no sympathy for Hamas has been trying to keep his starving children alive by feeding them leaves.
The war in Gaza can be difficult to prosecute because of Hamas’s habit of hiding among civilians. But that cannot justify the mass starvation of children in Gaza. Netanyahu seems to think that his legacy will be crushing Hamas; instead, it may be crimes against humanity.
The Biden administration is responsible as well. The bombs have destroyed the neighborhoods and displaced the families. Biden wants Netanyahu to allow more aid into Gaza after giving Israel a blank check. He definitely needs to push much harder.
The Kerem Shalom crossing protested against Israeli hostage families and pressed the Palestinian government to intervene against Hamas
Families of Israeli hostages being held in Gaza protested at a border crossing on Thursday in a bid to block aid from entering the territory as they take more aggressive action to push their government to give priority to the captives’ return and put more pressure on Hamas.
More than 100 trucks carrying humanitarian aid had to change their routes because of the demonstrations at the Kerem Shalom crossing. On Wednesday, Israeli protesters at the crossing held up aid trucks for hours, the U.N. humanitarian affairs office said in its daily update.
Hostage families and other supporters have taken more aggressive steps in recent weeks to demand the release of their loved ones — storming into the Israeli Parliament, taking over highways and staging protests outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s homes.
Danny Elgarat said that he was giving supplies to Hamas in order to aid the soldiers who were fighting in Gaza.
