Donald Trump’s final battle is likely to start
Is President Biden Up for the Job? The institutional knowledge that’s walked out of office due to Trump’s lies and obstructionism
It is certain that the Democrats will spend millions to eradicate Trump’s “brain fog,” which has been increasingly anti-democratic on the trail.
Biden’s approval rating is low and most voters think he isn’t up to be president, but they still don’t like Trump.
In the last three years, they have been targeted by Trump and his allies. He’s installed more loyalists in his campaign and state parties, and there are fewer Republicans in Congress willing to stand up to Trump.
The reason Trump’s attempts to stay in power did not work is because institutions, like those election officials across the country, Congress and the courts held and did their jobs.
It was more difficult to work with elections officials because of Trump’s lies. Many people left their posts because they faced lawsuits and threats, rather than face what they had faced. That’s a lot of institutional knowledge that’s walked out the door, and there’s no telling what that will mean for the vote count.

Why do Americans care about the economy? Sen. Biden’s presidency has been devastated by the problem of foreign policy and the crisis of the 21st century
It’s the top issue for voters, and they are in a bad mood about it. Polls continue to show Americans are pessimistic about the state of the economy despite strong signs – solid growth, low unemployment and declining inflation.
But food prices and mortgage rates are higher than people would like, and the blame is landing on President Biden. His ratings for handling the economy are not very good, and it’s possible that it will affect his reelection chances.
With little control over the economy, a president has to hope unemployment is low and inflation is low enough for the Fed to loosen its belt.
Expect Democrats to do everything they can to encourage voters to cast their votes, as Republican-governed states continue to pass restrictions.
Biden’s presidency has been hurt by the perception of how he is handling foreign policy. When it comes to Israel, in particular, the war has fractured the Democratic base.
There could be a No Labels candidate, as people like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the former Green Party are running. No one is quite sure how they will factor in, but Trump has a pretty firm base of voters.
Democrats worry that voters who would have chosen Biden over Trump could vote for one of these others and help Trump return to the White House. Trump didn’t get above 45% in either 2016 or 2020. If a third-party is able to pull votes from Biden, it could open a path for Trump to return to the White House.
Voters in Iowa and New Hampshire will cast their votes on January 15 and 23. Haley has staked a claim in New Hampshire as well as in Iowa. They might have accomplished enough to convince voters to go with them instead of Trump.

The Future of Democracy: Donald Trump and His MAGA Republicans Are Determined to Demonstrate the Country’s Graveyard, and what the rest of the country can do about it
There could be a situation where Trump is on trial during a general election. The start date in Georgia has been proposed as of August 5. It’s hard to see how an O.J. Simpson-style trial helps Trump in a general election. Of course, this is someone who has always believed it’s better to be in the spotlight than not.
This is a very serious issue. The United States has always excelled at how well run, clean and efficient the elections are.
With the Iowa caucuses less than two weeks away, a rematch of Trump and Joe Biden is highly likely — and wouldn’t be anything close to the usual competition between “four more years” and a reasonably sane, relatively coherent change of direction and pace. We’re on the cusp of something much scarier. Trump’s fury, vengefulness and ambitions have metastasized since 2020. The plans for a second Trump administration were darker and more detailed than any of the plans in the first one. He seems to be in a better position to let go of the rules he had not managed to get rid of before. Yesterday’s Trump was a Komodo dragon next to today’s Godzilla.
If Biden and other Democrats are in charge we will no longer have a country, said Trump all the time. Biden’s warning about Trump is equally blunt, and it could assume ever greater prominence as he calculates how to win re-election despite widespread economic apprehension, persistently low approval ratings and attacks on his age and acuity.
At a campaign event in Boston last month, he told people what was at stake in 2024. “Donald Trump and his MAGA Republicans are determined to destroy American democracy.”
How can the people on the losing side of an election accept the results when they think the winning side are digging the country’s graveyard? The final battle we may be witnessing is between a governable and an ungovernable America, a faintly civil and a floridly uncivil one. And it wouldn’t necessarily end with a Trump defeat in November. It might become more ugly when it gets uglier.
