The New York Times reports that Gov. Chris Sununu said “This is how to beat Trump.”
Donald Trump should not be afraid to attack him – but it should be shown that he is not the anti-Trump candidate – or should he be beatable?
Candidates on the debate stage should not be afraid to attack Donald Trump. Mr. Trump has an iron grip on 30 percent of the electorate, but not everyone is ready to vote for a third-party candidate. Mr. Trump does not need to state his weaknesses. To show voters they will take on Mr. Trump they must show a spark and not just defend him. Chris Christie, who has done great work exposing Mr. Trump’s weaknesses, must broaden his message and show voters that he is more than the anti-Trump candidate.
Donald Trump is beatable, and it starts in Iowa and New Hampshire. Ignore the national polls that show he is leading — they are meaningless. It’s a reflection of the national conversation, name ID, and who is top of mind — not where the momentum is headed.
