The SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP5 and GALAXY Z WEAR5 are not as bright as you think

The Cover Screen of a Small Galaxy Smartphone: The Flip 5 vs. Razr Plus, and its Comparative Study in the United States

That helps because it is a small category. It’s even smaller if you’re looking at options available in the US since your choices are basically the Flip 5 or Motorola’s Razr Plus. They both have a big cover screen, which is more useful than their predecessors, as well as a lot in common. They both share the same price tag. The flip phone of the manufacturer,Samsung, is better in many ways than that of the company that made it.

The main attraction is that 3.4-inch cover screen (yes, it is Flex Window), and I think it’s worth mentioning. That may not sound like much, but it’s more than 3.5 times bigger than the 1.9-inch screen on the Z Flip 4. It’s like getting out of a Smart Car and into a sedan — buckle up because you can go places now. A full keyboard can be used to respond to texts rather than just checking notifications. You can see your schedule and calendar at the same time.

You can enable, disabled, and rearrange the several handy Widgets on offer from Samsung. They’re excellent and take great advantage of the available screen real estate; the weather widget shows you current conditions at a glance, and you can scroll down for the next week’s forecast. Tapping on a calendar event brings up all the details. It is the way the good lord intended, and it is a lot more enjoyable than on the Razr Plus.

Some apps don’t work quite as well on the Flip 5’s cover screen as they do on the Razr Plus’ slightly bigger display. I was not good at typing in certain apps due to the fact that the cover screen keyboard didn’t have a text input box. But on either phone, there’s a very experimental vibe to using a full app, so proceed at your own risk.

For reasons mentioned above, Samsung makes it very difficult to run just any old app on the cover screen. You can enable a handful of preselected apps through the Labs menu, but for anything outside of messaging apps, Google Maps, or YouTube, you need to download Good Lock (and an additional module called MultiStar) from the Galaxy App Store. Then you can add additional apps to the cover screen.

A Galaxy Z Flip 5 Review: The Flip Phone We’ve Been Waiting For: Screen Battery Battery Jail on a Mobile Device

It is suitable for quick-hit tasks, such as checking transit arrival times or translations of Spanish words, even though it does not look like a big screen. It is challenging to place a mobile order for Starbucks, but I am certain that it can be done.

On the downside, the AOD does seem to drag down battery performance noticeably. The Z Flip 5 has a small 3,700mAh battery, so that’s a legitimate concern. With the ability to turn on the AOD, I was able to get through a full day with 4.5 hours of screen time, but only with a small portion left in the tank.

I had 40 percent left by the end of the night on a day with three hours of screen time. It is good enough to get most people through a full day, but heavy users will want to work in a midday top-off to avoid going to phone battery jail.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy (Z Flip 5): Where are you going? Why is your Flip 5 so cool in your pocket?

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy chipset is just as snappy here as in the S23 series. It was a little warmer in the Flip 5, maybe because there were less cooling mechanisms, but it was never too warm in my pocket. The Z flip 5 comes with a larger storage cache than the flip 4, with 8 gigabytes of RAM and 250 gigabytes of storage. There’s 25W wired charging (BYO charging brick, of course) and 15W wireless charging with 4.5W reverse wireless charging to top off your earbuds. I have to open the phone and set it juuust so on my stand-style Belkin Qi charger, but it works.

The side rails are made from aluminum and feel sturdy. The new hinge design can be more sturdy, but the rating for IPX8 is the same as last year. That means it’s resistant to full immersion in water, which is no small feat on a phone with moving parts, but there’s no guarantee against dust intrusion. Samsung’s apparently working on that, but in the meantime, it’s a bad idea to take the Flip 5 to the beach.

The Flip 5’s new cover screen provides a bigger canvas for lock screen customization, and Samsung provides a lot of personalization options. It’s a lot like customizing a smartwatch face — you pick a basic wallpaper style, select your favorite fonts and colors, and save it. From the cover screen itself, you can long press to view and switch between your customized lock screens. As a lock screen enjoyer, I’ve wasted plenty of time trying to get the background color framing a photo of my kid just right. You got me, Samsung.

New to the Flip and Fold this year is an updated flex mode panel — that’s the set of controls that you can enable when you use the phone in an L-shaped laptop mode. It is handy when watching a physical therapy video that is only available in a browser window, but you do not need it in an app like YouTube that is already made for folding phones.

More important than the software changes, the Z Flip 5 has a strong software support policy with four years of OS updates and five years of security patches. Motorola, on the other hand, is offering three years of OS updates and four years of security patches — and it doesn’t exactly have a great track record for timely updates. The reasons to consider the Flip 5 over the Razr Plus is one of the strongest ones.

Not all folding phones have the latest camera hardware. The Flip 5 has the same features as last year, with a stabilized main camera and a 12-MP ultrawide one. The flip form factor makes it easy to use the better rear facing cameras for selfies, which makes it a good option for video calls.

The imaging hardware is run-of-the-mill, and so are the Z Flip 5’s photos. The main camera does just fine in good lighting and turned in a few shots I really dig — give it ample indirect lighting and some vibrant colors, and you’ll be impressed. Portrait mode is good, similar to the S23 cameras.

Video clips are fine overall. I think my low-light video clips look good, and I am sure it is because of the artificial intelligence used by SAMSUNG. It is enjoyable to shoot photos and video with a flip phone. You can fold the phone into an L shape and set it down on a table for an instant tripod and hands-free video. You can hold it up like a camcorder or shoot from the hip with the image preview at the bottom half of the screen.

I usually get the most natural reactions in photos and videos of my toddler when my phone isn’t in front of my face using any of those methods. I am more focused in the moment. In any case, I’m hoping Samsung upgrades the cameras on the Z Flip 6 Good hardware and fun flip phones are what we can get.

Which Smart Devices have the Best Foldables? Counting the Number of Agreements Everybody Knows about Using the Internet and Other Mobile Devices

Every smart device now requires you to agree to a series of terms and conditions before you can use it — contracts that no one actually reads. It is impossible for us to read and analyze all of these agreements. But we started counting exactly how many times you have to hit “agree” to use devices when we review them since these are agreements most people don’t read and definitely can’t negotiate.

The two new phones do not leave a noticeable gap between the sides of the screen. This has been a problem for folding screens since the beginning, but now it’s been solved in the devices made by the competition. Which company has the best foldables?
