Max says it will restore writer and director credits after some backlash
What Happened to the Max-Max Show on February 22nd: Why Writers at Warner Bros. Discovery are So Unpopular?
But it feels more plausible that someone (or a boardroom full of someones) at Warner Bros. Discovery just thought people wouldn’t notice its attempt at encouraging the public to think about everyone who makes movies as nondescript creation machines rather than people — many of whom are on strike right now fighting to be paid what they’re owed.
Stiehm said that this attempt to diminish writers contribution and importance mirrors the message they heard in their negotiations with AMPTP, that writers should accept being paid less and less while their employers’ profits go higher and higher. The strike was brought about by the tone-deaf disregard for writers that occurred on the 22nd day.
The credits were altered due to an oversight in the technical transition from the show Max to Max, which resulted in an apology.
When it took to remake the show, perhaps someone accidentally slipped their finger and caused the old platform to not be moved over correctly.
TV and film union leaders were upset with the change. Writers are three weeks into an industry-wide strike and directors are in the middle of negotiating new contracts.
