DeSantis is not the only Republican candidate to announce a campaign this week, if that is his plan. Tim Scott launched his White House bid in the state of South Carolina on Monday.
“This will be the first time something like this is happening on social media and with real time questions and answers,” Musk said. “Not scripted. It’s going to be live, and let’s rip. Let’s see what happens.”
Since taking over Twitter in November 2022, Musk has garnered significant support among Republicans who have spent the last few years accusing social media companies of wrongfully censoring conservative content and users. Following the January 6th riot at the US Capitol, Trump was banned from mainstream platforms, such as Twitter. After taking over the company, Musk asked his followers for a vote on the decision he made to restore Trump’s account. “The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Musk tweeted at the time.

DeSantis’ wife, Casey DeSantis, further teased the likely run on Twitter with a video showing DeSantis taking to a stage with an American flag backdrop.
DeSantis has consistently ranked second in nationwide polls of Republican candidates. Trump remains the frontrunner, often ahead of DeSantis by 30 points.
Popular conservative commentators, like former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, have started moving their content to Twitter. The Daily Wire was going to bring all of its broadcasts to the platform by the end of this month according to a report on Tuesday.
The event was confirmed by a DeSenatis representative in an email. The company replied to the request with a poop emoji auto-reply.
David Sacks, a former PayPal product leader and tech investor, will moderate the discussion at the announcement that will take place during the 6PM event on Wednesday. The campaign for the Governor will put out a formal video before traveling to the campaign trail after Memorial Day.
