He has been placed under house arrest following his release from jail
The case of Andrew Tate, the kickboxer who had been arrested on suspicions of human trafficking, is still unsolved
BUCHAREST, Romania — Andrew Tate, the divisive internet personality who has spent months in a Romanian jail on suspicion of organized crime and human trafficking, has won an appeal to replace his detention with house arrest, an official said Friday.
Romanian police alleged last year that the brothers and others had formed an organized criminal group that stretched from Romania to Britain and the United States for the purpose of human trafficking, Antena 3 reported at the time.
Authorities alleged that some victims were misled “into believing that they intended to enter into a marriage/cohabitation relationship” while being transported into Romania and were later sexually exploited with physical violence and coercion, according to Antena 3.
At least six victims were said to have been sexually exploited by an organized criminal group.
I didn’t do anything wrong, so there’s no evidence in my file. Andrew Tate told Antena 3 that everyone knew he was innocent when he was taken for questioning.
The Tate brothers are not fighting the case, one of their lawyers said at the time.
Romanian police have searched 12 properties as part of their investigation, DIICOT said in mid-January. Romanian authorities have also seized roughly 18 million lei ($3,942,700) worth of assets belonging to Andrew Tate, including motor vehicles, luxury watches and sums of money in several different currencies, according to the country’s Asset Recovery and Management Agency.
Tate, a kickboxer who resides in Romania, has been banned from various social media platforms because of misogynistic views and hate speech. He has claimed that the prosecutors case is designed to silence him and that there is no evidence to support it.
He rose in prominence earlier this year, with many adults including school teachers voicing alarm about his misogynistic ideas taking root in the minds of countless young boys. His account had over 11 billion views before it was taken down.
The judges of the DIICOT facility in Romania have no resentment. The families of the Tate Brothers are preparing to go home
Ramona Bolla, spokeswoman for the Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, said that the court of appeal ruled that the judge who extended Tate’s arrest was wrong.
The four will remain under house arrest until the end of the month. None of the four has yet been formally indicted. The court ruled in favor of their immediate release. Prosecutors cannot challenge the appeal court’s decision, which was final, Bolla added.
The judges made the right decision when they decided that the boys were free to leave the facility, according to the Tate brothers’ lawyer.
Andrew Tate, one of the Tate Brothers, said he wanted to thank the judges who listened to him and let him go.
“I have no resentment in my heart for the country of Romania or for anybody else,” he said. I just believe in the truth. I truly believe that justice will be served in the end. There is zero percent chance of me being convicted for something I’ve not done.”

DIICOT, a human trafficker’s agency, says six victims were sexually exploited by members of the alleged crime group
DIICOT, which handles human traffickers, said in a statement that it had identified six victims who were subjected to acts of physical violence and mental coercion and sexually exploited by members of the alleged crime group.
The agency said victims were lured with pretenses of love and later intimidated, placed under surveillance and subjected to other control tactics while being coerced into engaging in pornographic acts for the financial gain of the crime group.
Prosecutors have said that if they can prove the cars’ owners gained money through illicit activities such as human trafficking, the assets would be used to cover the expenses of the investigation and to compensate victims. Tate was unsuccessful in appealing the asset seizure.
