The anniversary of the Ukraine-Russia war was marked by a speech by President Biden
The War in Warsaw, and the role of the United States and Western Powers in NATO and Russia: a Memorandum from the Prince of Wales
Speaking from Warsaw, Biden will speak to how the United States has rallied western leaders to support Ukraine and stand united against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin said the war in Ukraine was an existential struggle against the West, and claimed that sanctions had no effect on the country’s economy. He also stated that he was suspending Russia’s participation in the treaty.
“What is at stake here is more than just the success and survival of the nation of Ukraine,” Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters. According to Sullivan, Biden is expected to say that the war has ramifications for international order, fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as fundamental values of independence, democracy and freedom.
The war is entering a new and disconcerting phase at a critical time as the visit to Ukraine and Poland. Russia has launched its latest spring offensive. U.S. and western weapons are likely to be used in a counteroffensive by Ukraine. And the end of the war is nowhere in sight.
NATO ally Poland has provided 3.8 billion dollars in military and humanitarian assistance. Kirby said Biden will also use the opportunity to thank Poland for hosting U.S. forces.
William’s previously unannounced trip to Poland will be a short excursion. He will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Thursday in the heart of the Polish capital. In 1996 Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip laid a wreath at the war memorial in memory of their country’s war dead.
The Prince of Wales first visited the 3rd Brigade Territorial Defense Force base in Rzeszów, where he met Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak and viewed a display of military equipment.
The 40-year-old royal then met members of the British Armed Forces to learn more about how they have been collaborating with their Polish counterparts delivering operations in support of Ukraine.
There are strong ties between our nations. The heir to the British throne said that the ties would be further strengthened by their cooperation in support of the people of Ukraine and their freedom.
“I’m here because I want to personally thank the Polish and British troops working in close and crucial partnership. I also want to pay tribute to the inspiring humanity of the Polish people. He continued, “You have open your hearts as much as your homes.”
“That’s why this afternoon I visited Rzeszów to hear their stories and recognize their duty. I was amazed by their passion as well as their determination to defend our freedoms.
According to the facility, being at the frontline of the humanitarian crisis, it is providing accommodations for around 300 women and children who have recently arrived in the country and are not yet integrated into local communities.
The City of Warsaw opened a former office building as an accommodations center hours after Russian forces invaded the borders of Ukraine.
More than 8 million Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries since the start of the war. At least 1.5 million Ukrainian refugees remain in Poland, according to government estimates.
Ukrainian refugees are provided with two meals a day, while a variety of resources – including Polish language classes, employment and psychological support and a children’s play area – are available.
After visiting the local food hall, he will be able to meet young Ukrainians who are trying to rebuild their lives in Poland after being forced to flee during the war. They are expected to discuss how they restarted their studies and found employment in Warsaw. The prince will also speak with host families who have helped accommodate Ukrainian refugees and express his gratitude to them and their families for opening their homes and for their compassion.
He also met with volunteers who have been helping people displaced by the conflict to find out how they have been managing and distributing donations from the community, which are dispensed through a “free shop.”
King Charles III and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky: an Interaction with the UK During the February 17th Reunion
King Charles III, unlike his mother, didn’t speak directly about politics or the issue of Ukraine.
Charles had previously reaffirmed his support directly to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky when the two met at Buckingham Palace in early February. He has had engagements in the UK with the Ukrainian community, as have William and Kate.
