A US-based Haitian activist said she received racial harassment after JD Vance’s Facebook post falsely claimed Haitian immigrants were eating their pets. Vance had shared the post about a woman accused of killing and eating a cat in front of multiple people in Ohio’s Canton. She said the original post misconstrued Springfield with Canton, where the woman was arrested.

During the first debate between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for the 2020 US Presidential elections, Harris said, “Mr. VP, I’m speaking.” Harris added, “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking.” The debate came after US President Donald Trump’s former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that he’d drop out of the presidential race if Biden was not allowed to take part.
The criminal sentencing of Trump will be delayed until after the election
US President Donald Trump has asked his lawyers to drop the criminal case against him if he wins the upcoming presidential elections. It comes after the US Supreme Court recently ruled that a former President can be indicted on charges of corruption even when he is not a citizen of the country. Trump, who was impeached last year, had been charged with campaign finance violations.
States are leading the way in implementing deep fake porn laws
The Defiance Act, introduced by US lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is meant to help victims of nonconsensual deepfake porn as long as they can show that the images or videos were made with a nonconsensual partner. It was introduced earlier this year by Ocasio-Cortez, who had herself been a victim of nonconsensual deepfakes. Cruz has introduced a bill that would force platforms to remove both.
The Supreme Court’s ruling on immunity gave the Trump case its first hearing
Former US President Donald Trump’s lawyer Don McGahn has said he’s prepared to “fight” the indictment against him by Special Counsel Jack Smith, adding that the case shouldn’t be treated as a “witch hunt.” Trump is charged with obstruction of justice, conspiracy against the United States and false statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigation over his alleged attempt to interfere in the 2020 presidential election.
